    Great taillight

This tail light is well-constructed and designed. It features 4 different modes and has a powerful light and long-lasting battery. It is over-priced.

  • Top critical review

Could be 5 stars easily, if...

Cannot fully endorse. Works great. Definitely visible, several flash options, etc. Problem is poor battery life, particularly in "brighter modes". Not the biggest deal in the world to have to charge, essentially, after every ride (my average ride is 3-4 hours), but would be nice to be able to get two or more rides per charge. Otherwise, have had no problems, and do like the product.

  • Bright with a good light angle, Easy to Mount

The NiteRidere Solas 250 is very bright, day or night, and its ability to adjust brightness allows for riding with groups, to avoid blinding the rider(s) behind you. It's true that the rubbery piece that acts as a shield to dust and water needs to be improved as the fit doesn't feel right, requiring a couple of visible checks to be sure that it was placed correctly. Also, the clip on its back along with the rubber pressure mount allows for flexible fitting, though when clipped to a bag it tends to aim in a downward direction which is sub-optimal. It's wide angle visibility, where the light fall off can be critical, is very adequate especially when compared to other units presently on the market, though it can be improved. Still the light fall off from sub-optimal placement is acceptable to me. I can't speak for its longevity as I've only used it for about 6 hours, so far (times two as I have more than one and had them on my wife's bicycle too during these rides). As to its ability to hold a charge, I bought 4, keeping one for each bicycle (for the wife) as an extra unit just in case so that shouldn't be an issue with me. Still, the rides were about 3 hours each and it kept the charge, as the maximum output, for the entire time. I charged the units on a fast charger until the red light turned blue. I'm actually not a fan of the rechargeable lights. I would rather use high quality, double A rechargeable batteries, keeping an extra set or two, and changing the battery when needed since this method is still better for the environment, fast (no wait for a charger) and, in an emergency, double A batteries are everywhere.

  • Tough commuter light

Bought this to replace a Solas 100 I lost. That 1 was a few years old and was requiring more frequent charging, so I guess it worked out. Both products are good quality, and I like the rechargeable feature. The 1st withstood years of commuting and held up well even when it got wet. I would recommend this.

  • Pretty good product for the cost

Pro: Multiple attention getting settings for light, good battery life, good universal mount Con: switch can be difficult to operate especially while riding, have had some issues with not holding up well when used in the rain, have owned several Niterider lights including another Solas 250 that have eventually failed. That said I would probably purchase another as it seems a good light for the cost and just consider it a consumable item like tires and chains.

  • Finally a good day time rear light.

A very very bright flashing red rear light. No excuses for not being able to see this one in full day light. I was asked to turn it off or turn it a little bit to the side on my last group ride, it was too bright and hurting the eyes of the rider behind me. Con: when running on full brightness the battery only lasts 4-5 hours.

  • Great tail light, well constructed, and provides visibility in day or night rides

The NiteRider Solas 250 Tail Light is a great product. Even in daylight, a flashing taillight can be a life saver. Definitely worth the extra money over the cheaper products available. I really like that the mount holds the light solidly in place, yet it is also easy to remove for recharging, and easy to replace onto the mount. I have not yet exhausted the battery, but so far the battery life has been great. I'd like to see a better cover for the micro USB charging port, as the current configuration seems like it might not last. I have used the Niterider 650 headlight for years, and it's still going strong. I recommend their products, including this tail light.

  • Found the on/off button to be hard to use. Have to mash really hard on it to make it work. Was invited to do a return but have gotten better at workin

Found the on/off button to be hard to use. Have to mash really hard on it to make it work. Was invited to do a return but have gotten better at working it. Otherwise, nice and bright. Several settings to choose from.

  • Bright & Flashy!

I have three of these. One on rear rack. One on Topeak slide on panier bag and one adapted to back of my helmet. Here, where “bike lanes” are (sometimes) 18” wide I want EVERYONE to know someone needs their attention! With all these flashing it’s worked so far... (oh geeze, did I just jinx myself?)

  • Bright cycling taillight

Super bright but battery life is less than half what my older 2 watt one was, battery indicator shows low after about 3 1/2 hours but lasts about 2 more after that. Just need to make sure it's charged before doing another ride even if it didn't indicate low after the previous one.
