This is the 2nd. one of this type unit. I wore out the first one over many years use. For those buying one of these great, but discontinued units? Read carefully the set up instructions, especially for MAC users. At least one of the settings to be made can be very confusing. Once you get it all worked out, though, it is a great DAW /mixer interface for a small studio.

It was exactly the spare parts I needed to fix what I already had. The FW-1082 is obsolete and "finiky" to work with, unless one is very persistent. It's special feature is the motorized faders that match up with the DAW settings. Works well, but not recommended as a current option. A zoom l-12 is a much better investment.

Got this unit because there was driver support for FireWire for Win XP-Win 10. I have an older PC with a lot of music on it that I need to access and so far it’s working fine. FireWire is a little finicky to connect but that seems to go with FireWire and Win XP in general. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with my only disappointment being that the mixer doesn’t inter face as a direct control surface for the version of Acid that I have most of my recoding on.
