The last few years it has been harder and harder to get cables to find the correct COM port on computers. In the old days it was pretty easy. Now you got to use a USB port/COM port and have to make sure you have the correct chip in the cable. This cable works great. It is now so easy to program my scanner. I can do it online and make changes in seconds. You will need software. I am using ARC433 software. Jim Howard N0UWY

It is very complicated to program for your local frequencies if with the USB link cable and software. Also you really need to have an outdoor antenna for it function well.

Bought a Radioshack Pro-2096 recently. Got the software to program it, ordered the cable I was needing. Was easy to use and also plug and play.
