  • Good fundamental tone

Sound broken in straight out of the package. Nice thump to them. Good fundamental tone. I still like my LaBella's a bit more, but the GHS are less expensive. I would have given them 5 stars, but you can only get these in plus sizes. On a 34" scale bass the E string silk isn't long enough at the tuner post. GHS assured me it wasn't a problem, but why even bother putting silk on any of the strings? Idk.

  • Nice flat wound bass strings

Nice strings. I had played with round wounds for so long, I forgot how smooth flats feel while fingering, and how consistently deep the tone is. These GHS are a better value than most other brands of flat wounds.

  • Great strings at great price

Not a lot to say, really. I put these on my old Peavey Fury, and they are excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable to play, sounds great. I have a set of LaBella flats on my Fender Jaguar, and the GHS strings are every bit as good at a better price.

  • Flat wound bass strings are alive and well.

Started playing electric bass back when flats were all there was. At that time Fender flats were the best and were used on so many 1960's recordings. They just stood out in the mix. I started using round wounds in 1972, but I always said at some time I'd again have a spare bass with flats. In 2019 I got my spare, for nostalgia, and put Fenders on, but their magic was gone, nowhere near the sound of that 60's punch. When I tried the GHS', there it was and I'm grateful. If you want to re-create that vintage sound, use these.

  • Beautiful strings!

A great buy! Exactly what you pay for. It gives me a nice warm funky tone, makes me want to go out and upgrade my amp, lol. Great feel, easy to move around on and has very clean action. I’d definitely recommend.

  • I started out using flatwounds on my Fen...

I started out using flatwounds on my Fender Jazz bass 12 years ago then switched to rounds 4 years ago to achieve more presence in the mix. However, while playing with a smaller band I found that a bigger, bassier tone was needed. I have three Fender Precisions so I put these on one of them - a made in America 62 re-issue and I think if my bass could speak it would be thanking me! It's like these strings were made for it. Plenty of solid lows, but nice midrange tone too.

  • Ghs Flats

I’ve been a Flat wound player for many years, these strings are awesome. They sound great on my Fender P/J active Bass. They stay in tune through my heavy style of playing. Love them.

  • Pure joy to play these strings.

I went from roundwound strings to these flatwound strings and it changed my life for the better! Much, much better! I love these strings! I buy them again!

  • less tension than Chromes

Very nice sounding strings with less tension than the Chrome flats I was using. The E string seems longer than needed. It still worked but I wish they could have started the silk wrap a half inch shorter.
