Believe me when I tell you that this is an instrument. Don't waste your money on a Chinese ax or hatchet. I can split enough wood for a nights campfire with this and it is still razor sharp. I take along a 2lb hammer in my camp gear and use this for a wedge on larger wood. The handle feels natural in your hand. Quality stuff that you can hand down from generation to generation. You'll love it.

AXE IDEAL FOR CAMPING AND OUTDOOR
Very balanced, applies to all normal use of camping and outdoor activities. Very robust and of reasonable, easy to put on a backpack weight and size. It seems indestructible. The realilado is simple because the steel is not too hard, keeping the edge if not abused. The cover is sufficient for protection and is only necessary to review the edge a bit before using it. Is well sharpened, but missing remove tiny burrs and settle.

This hatchet/axe is PERFECT! One solid piece of quality steel and made in the USA. Very comfortable to hold and use. Perfectly weighted to fit comfortably in your hand and get the job done. You can't buy better quality than an Estwing. This will last forever. I'm SO glad I bought this.....you will be, too! Great quality small hatchet/ax
While some carp that this model is not as capable as a larger ax due to its relatively thin profile it does the job that it is designed for. That is, it provides a relatively light weight tool to use on light chopping, tent staking and wood gathering without the heavy weight of a large camp ax. It can also be used to quickly construct an expedient shelter in an emergency. It is particularly useful when you are back packing and carry a quality small folding saw to complement it. Don't go in the woods without one.
