My lucky find on eBay has the Intel i7 1.8Ghz processor. This is dual core but emulates a quad core when appropriate (Disk Utility shows 4 cores). Memory is 4GB. What had been stopping me going for the Air was SSD size but with 256 GB on this model there is adequate space for most things. Unfortunately the SSD is from Toshiba which is reputedly slower than the Samsung equivalent but I am very happy with the speed - it really zips along. Screen resolution is usually adequate but small text especially numbers can be tricky to decipher - no doubt the next upgrades will have retina displays! There are ways in Lion to enlarge text so this has not been a concern. It gets quite warm when doing processor-intensive work for long periods. There is a fan which kicks in. This is a rare occurance. The noise is not excessive but it could intrude if doing sound recordings of a sensitive nature. Battery life must take a slight hit due to the processor and drive and I have been a little disappointed on that front. I find myself using the minimum workable screen brightness a lot of the time to extend this. I have not done proper testing but it seems around 3.5 - 4 hr. Strength of casing anxieties have been dispelled - it is sturdy enough for the real world. This has become my mobile office - the size and weight make it a joy to carry around. The low weight allows a different approach to working - moving around more - more real 'lap' use - it is surprisingly liberating! It is a thing of beauty which is a pleasure to use (if your budget allows!).Read full review
Excellent product. The best think about it was the speed. The i5 processor is perfect for my usage which is mainly for internet surfing and music, but it doesn't slow up much for more difficult applications. I also like the weight. Fair enough it doesn't come with an optical drive or ethernet sock, nor line in but this can be remedied using the remote disk facility the wi-fi capability and a external sound card that can be connected via usb. I don't reality mind the relatively small 64gb which is fast access SSD rather than standard hd as I have a 2tb external hd to use with it. It seems to whizz through safari and other apps. The battery seems to charge from zero to 100 in about 100 minutes and a full charge lasts about 8 hours. The webcam and microphone are of good quality and the supplied Garage Band is a very useful too for budding musicians like myself!! It does matter that it is two years old as the savings on buying are huge.Read full review
Runs just as well as the newer models and arrived super quick. Really impressed. There were quite a few scratches on the bottom however they're hidden when I use it. My sister's been after a macbook for ages. I'm definitely recommending one from you.

Keys on the keyboard for this item are defective and do not always work. The spacebar being the most irritating one.

Its a great piece of Kit We have two of them and for portable power, they are difficult to beat. We also run Windows XP in Parallels and its very fast. The solid state drive makes a HUGE difference to the speed for all applications but particularly for virtualisation. We'll never buy another PC with a Hard Drive. SSD is the only way to go. The only slight disappointment is -- as always, battery life. Don't believe the hype. This Mac book Air will run comfortably for 3 hours with a dim display, but not 4 and certainly not 5! Its a tad overpriced from Apple direct but at £699 off eBay, you can't go wrong :-) Thoroughly recommended.
great laptop - Twice the speed of my windows machine. Bought this one with broken screen and repaired it but now i know how awkward this process is i will buy a 100% working model next time.
I bought the Apple MacBook Air laptop to reduce the dependancy on a rapidly filling up iPad 2. I equally wanted to be less-dependant on wifi for health and safety reasons. Granted, the Air comes only wifi enabled but not RJ-45 enabled. A simple USB/RJ-45 dongle fixed that and they work and they work together flawlessly. I really like the Air over the iPad since a) it weighs practically the same; b) RAM and SSD can be uprated; c) USB enables a great deal of expansion-capability over the iPad; and d) it integrates well with my 2012 MacBook Pro, iPhone 5s and iPad 2. Having said all that, the iPad 2 is not bad - it's just that the Air is so much better for my needs.
Cool 😎
