I use this on my a6500 for video and couldn't be happier. The sharpness, contrast, color and bokeh are all really pleasing. On paper it seems over priced especially next to something like the Sigma 30mm 1.4 but after using both lenses you can tell this has a more pleasing image (for me at least) Dont get me wrong the Sigma is a Great budget lens but if you have the money this lens is really fun to shoot with and the image is noticeably crisper and cooler. It's not worth $1000 though, make sure to pick up a used one in good condition for $700ish, that price feels right for this lens. On trips I want something light this is the perfect all around focal length for me. Wide enough for landscape, architecture ect and not too much distortion for peoples faces. Make sure your lens and camera have the latest firmware updates to get the best results. Unfortunately there are not a lot of videos out there to see examples (at least from a video perspective) before buying the lens which made me wonder about getting it in the first place, but I think it simply is because of the price and how inexpensive the Sigma is which you can find 100's of videos examples of. For me I'm very happy with this lens!Read full review

Only if I could have used it......It was going to be a gift for my sons camera .....but it’s only for the 6000 series Sony camera. My son has 7a series camera . So I immediately canceled my order. but if you U tube the 24 mm you will see how many people are really happy with the lens. Wish I could have made the deal. Mark la Croix

A great fast wide angle lens for the Sony NEX System, and in particular for the more demanding sensor of the Sony Nex 7. This lens is extremely well made and well corrected. The colors and edge to edge sharpness are wonderful. I almost held up my order for the new Fuji, but glad I didn't , as I think the NEX system is much more flexible while still having that rangefinder "feel" to it. Some complain of the size, but it is in fact a fairly small lens, smaller than any other APS version I have ever seen. It balances perfectly on the NEX 7. As far as price I gave it a 5 based on comparison with other fast 24mm Zeiss lenses. Comparing it to cheap plastic lenses as far as price doesn't really serve a useful purpose. Of course would prefer it to be cheaper.
This lens is sharp, small and portable, and offers a great APS-C focal range (35mm full-frame equivalent) for everyday shooting and street photography. This, along with the Sigma 56mm f1.4 will be my new travel kit paired with the Sony a6600. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

This lens had a learning curve for me because it lacks stabilization. I couldn’t figure out why my pictures were so soft until I put it on my wife’s a6000. She shoots lots of photos of our grandchildren on the fly and utilizes shutter priority, hardly ever going below 1/125 even with OSS lenses. Problem solved for me. I now shoot 1/125 indoors, and 1/160 outside unless I’m going for a certain effect. Sharp pictures, great contrast, wonderful color. Don’t overlook Clear Image Zoom either, as it will take this prime lens and make it into a credible 24 - 48 (36 - 72) zoom and enable you to use this lens as an all purpose one. An important consideration given its cost.

There are very high expectations when you buy a Zeiss lens. The name/brand is a bit legendary in the photo industry. It's "the good stuff",the "top of the heap"... This particular lens is built in Japan (OK by Me!), not Germany...None the less it wears the blue "Zeiss" badge on it's side... My opinion on this lens: Insane sharpness starting @ F:2.0 Totally silent AF Brilliant build quality Size and weight perfect for the NEX bodies It will stay on my camera nearly ALL of the time! (Until I get the 55mm 1.8:^)) The biggest question is...is it worth $900 USD? I don't think so...(I'm an insane cheapskate BTW!) I paid right around $600 for mine in Mint/Boxed Cond. and,I believe that is a fair $$ for this lens...It's good. REALLY GOOD!
Althought used infrequently this is a relatively compact wide lens I bought for its speed and low light capability. Pictures are excellent with minimal acceptable vignetting. Excellent glass and crisp clear pictures. A big step up from the standard kit lens that came with my A6000.

Sony Zeiss 24 mm, f1.8 lense is a beautiful wide angle lense. Great for landscape, portraiture, fashion and close-up (macro) photography. Mechanism is very smooth and super fast and quiet. It renders beautiful, crisp colors because of its excellent glass elements and the Zeiss *T coating.

I got this lens mostly for travel, hikes etc. Great lens and light enough to take anywhere. I'm using it with both the A7rII and A6000. There are several reviews of this lens on the internet and they are all favorable. If you buy one you wont be disappointed.

surprisingly light lens with really good finishing that i am almost don't want to use to prevent scratches (Joking) the lens is now on my a6300 but has not the time to see how sharp images are, however i made this purchase after reading so many good reviews it is a wide prime lens and the angle of view plus the F1.8 makes it great for indoor photos
