This was a good value, a good size phone for me, and works better in the cold than my iphone did. In normal temperatures, it is slightly less reliable than my iphone was (taking in/out airplane mode sometimes needed to re-establish connectivity to a network) and slower (requires a LOT of patience and a lot of counting before I obsessively keep touching the screen), but a better value and more durable. I am very happy with it and love the swipe feature that is faster than typing. It also cost me nothing to get a new SIM card from TMobile when I switched over at the store.

Very erratic charging capability...obviously was traded in/sold because it's defective.. sometimes charges to 100% but more often than not will not charge at all or actually discharges when connected to a charger. This happened w/ the original battery and also with 2 new batteries and multiple chargers...So must assume the phone itself is defective. Have seen online this is a recurring problem w/ the Galaxy series.

OK, so the Galaxy S2 is old by Android phone standards, but I have had one since they were first released on T-Mobile as the T989. At that time, having MHL / Video output on the micro USB port was rare. The version of Android supplied was 2.3 I think. The phone has had Samsung released updates to Android 4.04 and for me it all works great. One of the best things is that this is one of the first handsets that supported WiFi calling - a great feature of T-Mobile that I would not be without. This version of the Galaxy S2 is solid, reliable, not too heavy or bulky, has all the latest features like WiFi Hotspot, a reasonable Android version, support for large SD cards, a good camera, and reasonable battery life. So, even though I have an HTC One M8, I just could noy be without my S2. Since you can pick up like new used ones for $100 or less, I did not hesitate to get a standby S2 when the power switch on my original S2 started to give a little trouble. This is a great phone.Read full review
very nice phone...good deal if you can get one for under 300. The Galaxy S2 is defined by Samsung and carriers with a two sentences: “ultra-powerful, ultra-thin, ultra brilliant” or “vidid, fast, slim”. It’s true that the Galaxy S2 is the best that Samsung has to offer today and benefits from improvements such as a dual-core application processor (also called system on a chip, or SoC), and large 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus display with a Gorilla glass. Additionally, everything has been integrated in a 8.49mm thin body that is very light (116g). The Samsung Galaxy S2 looks good, but does it live up to the legend in the real-world?
This is the best phone so far, or I have ever seen yet. However, I have to say two major downsides: 1. The battery life is tooooooooooooooooo short. With wifi and bluetooth on, it is good up to 12 hours when fully charged. If you do just the calling and nothing else (no internet, no bluetooth, etc), it holds up to 3 days when fully charged. This is awful for such an incredible system. I wish I could serve internet entire week and make 10 days calls via bluetooth on a single charge. That would be a non-replaceable phone ever. 2. I have 4-5 megabits speed on internet when I am on WIFI. It is like 1 megabit or less while on 4G sim card network. So, all the TV commercials, where they say "...It was so 17 seconds ago" are a great lie. If you are only on your 4G sim network, trying to open a web-page, you will have to wait at least 10 seconds. Imagine waiting 10-15 seconds while you are trying to log into your GMAIL or trying to refresh emails. That's is awful. When you are on Wifi, you wait 1-2 seconds to refresh web-page. Overall, this is the best phone I ever had so far, with all incredible functionality. However, don't pay crazy $600 for it. I bought mine for $278 on eBay. It was used 35 days only, no internal problems at all. It came with 2 minor side scratches and 3 minor dents on the sides (only felt while finger-sliding). I put a hard cover on it for $2.50 & all else was great. Bottom line, be smart not pay too much, smart phone encourages you to be smart.Read full review
It's nothing special to me. I think the new Iphone that's coming out is pretty impressive. However this is one of the best phones for Tmobile, so I bought it. If I had AT&T I would go with the new Iphone when it comes out, but my bill is a lot cheaper with Tmobile. The battery life on this phone is decent if you like practically shut off all the lighting. The screen is bigger & clearer than the s1 that's a plus. The camera is decent. The phone is basically an update of the s1 in that it's bigger, faster, clearer, has a flash on camera, has a front facing camera, face chat capable, etc. I but 3/5 for value of money because I paid $350 for it, which is not really worth it. If you have an update with Tmobile and get it for cheap then I would consider getting it. The phone is pretty easy to use, similar to the s1 if you have had it. I put 3/5 for the features because I'm glad they updated the camera, but I still get blurry pics occasionally which is annoying. The phone did not get any thinner than the s1, I think it got thicker. There's no new features that really impress me. They pretty much updated this phone with things that the s1 should of originally had.Read full review
Overall, the phone has a lot of nice features. I do not like the fact that it's got all these Programs running in the Background, all the time, draining the battery. They actually improved the crappy Visual Voicemail Program, it's actually not too bad now, no Really. Also, it is YOUR phone...you shouldn't have to have all these programs running without any choice in the matter! 3 different Google Maps Apps PLUS the TeleNAV programs running all the time. 20 - 30+ entirely needless programs running ALL the Time quickly drains the Battery. And that's not even including all the many hidden programs that are running all the time that you don't see listed. Only certain programs will even show, and most of these other hidden files running are completely useless & unnecessary. I was surprised at how many were running in the background that aren't normally shown. Aside from that, I really like the operating system so much. I thought Google really did a great job with this. I thought Android was so incredibly great...until I bought a Chromebook. Oh my God, they really struck-out on that one. What a horrid piece of junk. If you've never bought a Chromebook...don't. So, it must be Samsung that contributed to this great operating system? (Cause it sure wasn't Google.) Chromebook are horrendous! If you block the fan, located on the bottom! at all, the whole thing will cease working!! College Students need to be instructed of this, their Computer will not work 90% of the time, if they place it on their lap or on the bed while using it, even on a wood surface or table. The mouse also completely freezes-up. You pretty much have to hold it up in the air- even doing light tasks- to keep it from constantly seizing-up on you. The other thing I don't like on this Phone is that the chrome bezel gets cracked and scratched unbelievably easily. If you've ever owned one of these, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about!! Mostly I don't like this phone cause the battery would last ten times longer without the incredible amount of needless programs running in the background.Read full review
I am a technology specialist and have been for many years but my entry into the smartphone arena has been intentionally postponed. Using browsers on a cell phone, any phone was not intriguing to me. After much consideration, I bought two Samsung Galaxy S2's. I have used it for about a month now and I am very impressed with the processor speed, and the clarity of the display functions. While the camera is not the highest quality on the market today, it is more than adequate for the pictures I take. The phone had good battery life and would be much better but I work in a metal building and it burns battery attempting to contact a cell tower and can not find one. My wife uses hers without the metal building and she gets at least double the battery life as I. It is Android based and uses apps from the Google Play store which means that virtually anything you would want to do from your phone is available. The phone is very easy to use, the phone quality is great and the voice recognition capabilities are fantastic. The predictive keying during text entry is a great aid and I use it a lot to correct my keying during and following text entry. The phone is not the latest in technology by about 2-3 years but for me, that is fine. The cost is 1/3 the latest technology cost so when considering the phone performance versus cost, it is hands-down a good buy. I have very quickly become dependent on this device and would definitely buy it again.Read full review
Its a wonderphone phone. This is the Tmobile version and is different from Att version which is skyrocket. This is not LTE or true 4g, but there are no cities with wide coverage of LTE network anyway. (except one or two test cities) This one I think is better than compared to the skyrocket in terms, as for the HSPA+ speeds it can support up to 42mbps speeds instead of the traditional 21mbps. They used a different processor (snapdragon) to make use of the t mobile frequencies (1700 band) The graphics ship is supposed to be little less performing than its att counterpart, but i have not seen any single performance drop even in heavy graphics apps. Instead, cos of this, the battery backup is a couple of hours better than skyrocket. Overall, if the apps or running processes are not closed and are running in background, the battery drains very quickly and I think thats one of the biggest problems in this. secondly, as this model came out later than other s2 models, the custom boots for this phone are hard to find for the icecream sandwich the call quality and signal strength are really good. tip: if you use tmobile, after 3 months of use, you can ask them for a unlock code as u r not bound by contract. (if u buy it from ebay or out of contract phone)Read full review
While Samsung makes High Quality phones, I can not get over the Blue hues on the screens. Don't get me wrong the screens are nice and high contrast, but they have a bluish hue that just bugs me. Also, I think 4 inches is the best screen size, larger just feels strange. This is of course one person's opinion. Overall for the price I like other phones, but this is right up there in the competition.
