I've owned the original iPad, iPad 2 and now the new iPad. Each one keeps getting better. Contrary to what others say, the size/weight difference between this and the iPad 2 isn't even noticeable, unless maybe you have them side by side and a scale handy. I haven't noticed it getting much warmer than either of the first 2 generations, either. The screen quality is breath taking. It's a snappy performer, and you can feel the quality in the build. The first 2 I owned were WiFi only. This time around, I sprung for the LTE 4G model. I've been a loyal AT&T customer for quite a while, but I went with the Verizon model. The reasons are simple: Verizon has LTE in my area, and AT&T does not; Verizon includes Hot Spot tethering, and AT&T doesn't even offer it (yet); For $20 with Verizon you get 1GB of data, compared to $14.99 for 250MB. Considering it was costing me $20 per month for tethering on my iPhone with AT&T that I rarely use, and if I cancel it then add it again I'm charged a prorated difference for the month, this makes sense. That's $240 per year for tethering that I won't use often. With the iPad, I can cancel the service after a month and add it again later. I only pay the flat price for the data for 30 days. Cancel before your month ends, and you won't be billed for more. If I only use it for 4 months of the year, that's $80. Add $130 for the 4G/GPS option, and that's still only $210 for the year. That puts me at a $30 savings in the first year alone, and that includes the premium for the 4G option. If you've been holding out for an iPad, this is the one to get!Read full review
Purchased I-Pad latest version for my wife.Attempted to talk her into an ultra laptop from Asus or Toshiba but these are also in the $1000 range.The Apple looks good,the new display is great and above all it is easy to learn how to operate one. The unit did not come with an intruction manual but the local Apple outlet has free classes on how to use the different functions. I do not know how long the battery lasts after being fully charged because my wife owns the I-pad. In my opinion it should have more I/O ports like at least a USB and an HDMI. Apple products are pricey but they look good and people that own Apple products usually are very satisfied with their performance!
