This is a really great upgrade from the iPod. The 3rd generation's updated features with the retina display, as well as the upgraded camera makes graphics stand out very well. Accessing some of the common apps we use is more convenient. Bought this for my wife who is not keen on having the latest technology and she is hooked! Loves how she can access her e-mail and the Internet where ever she goes. Although we do not have the 3G/4G connection, she is happy with just accessing via Wi-Fi. The downside is that, just like the ipod, if you have too many apps trying to home in on your current location or constantly updating, your battery time gets pretty short. otherwise, we are enjoying this tablet.
I absolutely love my IPad 3rd generation tablet. It's sleek, lightweight, & couldn't be more convenient or simple to use, especially for a novice like myself ! It's always by my side so I can surf the web, check emails, play a game, or whatever suits my fancy. The camera works great for picture-taking, & I have yet to use the video recording feature. The screen display is sharp & beautiful, and the battery has performed well. There are many cool features I haven't had time to explore yet. I used to wonder how I could live without a VCR, then DVR, & now I ask that same question of my IPad !

Apple makes good products, hands down. I have an iPod Touch 1G - it still works. I just bought an iPhone 4S for Christmas - Can you say awesome? But the iPad3 takes the cake! I bought the 16G model with Wifi, on day 2 when it became available. People keep saying the iPad 3 is thicker, heavier and warmer than the iPad 2. Come on! What's an extra 0.12 lbs, 0.03" more thickness and a few degrees more warmth? If you are worried that the added size and weight might be too much - get in shape, get pumped so you can lug the new iPad around. Those people who are anti-iPad 3 say that other than the display, it's not a huge improvement from iPad 2. The whole point of iPad 3 IS the display. It looks beautiful - it has 4 times as many pixels as iPad 2 - so you can Zoom zoom zoom ... Your pictures still slide by flawlessly when you flip through your photos. No flickering, no delays - just smooth as its predecessors! Shooting 1080p video is very nice too. The price of the entry level iPad 3 is the same as the iPad 2 and is similar to other tablets, but he performance (visual, ease of use etc) of the iPad 3 is miles ahead of iPad 2 and the compentition. I am protecting my iPad 3 by keeping it in a zippered case that only cost $25, so it won't get scratched. (Acme Made Slick Case for iPad (AM00886-CCA) - Red The only thing missing from the iPad 3 is the Flash Player capability. Maybe it will be available in an upcoming IOS update ... All I can say to sum it up is: I love my iPad 3.Read full review
Such an awesome tablet. This 3rd generation ipad is the best! Lightening fast WiFi and response. Screen is so crystal clear and lifelike. With so many apps to choose from you have an endless variety to keep your ipad up to date. Very portable and perfect size, it's a must have for all. Very easy to learn to use right out of the box. I wouldn't have anything else and strongly recommend that anyone give this a try. You'll be hooked from the start. Way to go, Apple, and I look forward to your next one.
I purchased this IPad to achieve more flexible use than the use of my laptop. I returned it and purchased a better one because this one did not suit my needs: I needed a better front camera for Skype use, and more storage space. But I admit that the video display is stunning and it's the best video display I've seen on a portable unit of its kind. What I didn't like was the fact that you cannot use any external media, such as a flash drive, for extra storage of files. Of course, on a limited basis, there is a cloud drive to overcome that. But still, you cannot import videos to play directly on the iPad unless you use some manipulative tactics.
I cannot compare this to other tablets. I do NOT like Apple for the "wiz bang" features of their products! Honestly, their are probably other products that have "cool" features? less money? I don't honestly know and I don't care....WHY? Because I LOVE APPLE! for the foundation of who they are, what they do and how they do things! They meet my needs in all aspects! They are going in the right direction and do not waver! I was a PC only guy for 20+ years developing software development / integration for most of that...My PC is now collecting dust...everything I do is with Apple....I have 2 Ipads, the 2 and the 3....If you are really pressed for cash, you will be just as happy with the iPad 2! (No matter which model you choosr 2 or 3.....save your money and get the WIFI only,,and use the WIFI hot spot on your phone for IPAD internet?Read full review
Though this iPad is a bit heavy, it is wonderful for travel and convenience. Paired with a Moshi iPad cover, I can take it everywhere. When called for, I have the Mac satellite keyboard and can write tomes on Notes. I find the size of the iPad perfect when compared with my iPad mini. I use the mini for pictures and videos and the iPad for virtually everything else including reading papers, magazines and books, checking email and surfing the net.

The price is just too high and yet iPad's inability to play Flash video sucks, there are other things it can't do as well. For example, Safari on iPad can't be used to create Google Documents, only to view them. No memory card slot. Forget reading in the sun. Inability to multitas; The iPad can't run more than one app at a time (with the exception of a few Apple apps, such as iPod, the iPad's music playing app). There's no USB port. The lack of even one USB port – the universal means of connecting just about everything these days – means you can't connect the device to a printer or other computer peripherals, such as an external hard drive. The iPad can be connected to cameras, but it requires the purchase of a separate overpriced accessory from Apple.
I have never been a big fan of the Apple operating system (I don't like all the restrictions they put on it) but I have to admit they know how to make a good tablet. The iPad is very easy to use and all the apps work quickly and efficiently. I used to have a 1st gen iPad and the 3rd gen is much faster. I think the screen resolution is better too. I just wish the 3rd gen had a word publishing program included. The latest generation has Pages (which is a pretty decent program) but the older generations can't run Pages. There are a couple free writing apps available from the Apple store that are okay but I would have liked to have Pages available. Overall it's a really good tablet and much better than an Android tablet available in the $100-$150 price range.

I personally own an iPad Gen 1 16GB, a iPad Gen 2 32GB, and now i just got the 16GB of the New iPad, and let me just say, i am not impressed. The only thing going for the iPad 3rd Gen is the screen, dont get me wrong it is beautiful, BUT not worth the money. I still prefer my Gen 1 iPad over this thing, if i could i would return the Gen 3. It is well overpriced, sure you get a better processor and screen, but honestly there are no apps that need this kind of power. barely any apps have exceeded the need for the iPad 1, some need an iPad 2. out side of preference, it performs well. just like all the iPads before it. it seems a little too thin for comfort, i feel like im going to snap it every time. Just as my iPad 2, the first one i got had a dying home button on arrival. by which i mean it takes many presses of the button to register a true hit to it. The camera's quality is still too low to be worth it on this device.Read full review
