SynopsisMemorializing the death of Jerry Garcia, this updated edition of the bestselling book about the Grateful Dead offers a fascinating, highly readable report on this onging experiment on collective creativity--the cultural phenomenon that hasn't lost its steam for more than 30 years. "Serious fun is what the Grateful Dead is up to, and that's what this book is about".--Mickey Hart. Photos., Looks at the twenty-year history of the Grateful Dead, discusses the evolution of their music, and includes profiles of each band member.
Fantastic book. It’s like the title says: Playing in the Band”. The interviews and the candid style the author used put the reader in the middle of things as the band grew, but they never grew up. I’m trying to figure out which Jam Session I played in that I liked the most or played my best. Groovy, trippy and pretty damn cool. A keeper to pass to my kids.
