It's got a good sound and it's a great product, light, just as pictured, easy to use, the only issue I had with it is that it doesn't pick up sound as well as the others I have. If I pull back even the tiniest bit it doesn't catch that and I end up having to put it closer to my mouth than I am used to.

If a products weight is an indication of it's quality then I should have been worried the second the package arrived. Instead I had faith in it and took it to a trivia show where the loudest it would get would let a restless baby sleep. I was fortunate to have my partner's spare with me and used that. Don't buy this.

I put this through a test of different instruments to see how it did. I mainly thought the capsule would go but after the test it still sounds as it did new. I put it on a Marshall dsl40c, a 40watt fender rad bass, a snare and a kick (14” snare and 22” kick). The volume on the mic is a little low so I had to boost it but it sounded great for $6 on all of them. It was a little dead on the snare and Marshall and the frequency range is strictly small (cutting off at 60hz or so and 13khz instead of the posted 50hz and 15khz) so it killed a lot of the range but that came useful on bass and kick where I wanted the >40 gone or lower. It did best with kick and bass for sure. I’m still not sure if it will replace any regular mics but I’ll keep it on hand for future use. If you need a mic asap (getting it literally the next day) and you don’t care about the cost I’d grab one!!!!Read full review

I have purchased several of these microphones. I use them to construct and fix other microphones as well as to amplify and record audio. If you are intending to use this for serious production recording, you have purchased the wrong microphone. However, this microphone is great for spoken word, amature karaoke, auctioneering, or applications where using an expensive mic would be likely to be damaged. The good: the element of the microphone is sensitive yet forgiving, it is not an awful sounding microphone and the element makes for a cheap installaton for experimental microphones. The cap of the microphone also allows multidirectional pickup. The bad:the housing is cheap light plastic and the switch is less than great. The connector hasnt given me any trouble but give it time and heavy use and I expect it eventually will. The included cable is not great by any means but works, I would recommend an xlr to xlr cable. Overall the mic is definately worth the price but not for serious applications.Read full review
Do NOT USE the Cord it comes with or any other Balanced Mic cable..... I have a little knowledge {A Little Knowledge Can Be Dangerous.} on ohms Law and the impedence values And I had a feeling that what Another Reviewer had wrote about Balanced cables and UnBalanced cables was CORRECT!!! So, I ordered an UnBalanced cable And Hocus Pocus.... It works really flipping WELL!!!! So, If you are on a Shoestring Budget, this $6 - $7 dollar Mic and an UnBalanced Cable that is about $10 Bucks... and you got yourself a Really Good Mic for Under $20 Bucks. Pretty Impressive!!

I give it two stars for several reasons. 1. it is made of plastic. 2. the original cable is very poorly shielded 3. why use an balanced XLR connector when this is NOT a balanced Mic? I had that problem with a Gemsound GM16 as well. For what I do. I need a Microphone that doesn't buzz. I run a Part 15 Low Power AM radio station. With my trusty soldering iron. I was able to make it more useful by using two 12Kohm resistors to the shield pin (pin 2) from pins 1 and 3. That helped some but it was not perfect. Plugging in the 1/4" to XLR plug (without the microphone, which has the resistors) the cable hummed very badly. That indicates that the cable itself has bad shielding. The cable was unmodified. I am unsure if I just got bum equipment but then what I paid I didn't lose much. Despite the buzzing and humming. it had some good gain. quite a bit more than the Gemsound GM16 mic I had. One gripe for these manufactures, especially the consumer grade products. This mike is NOT professional! Don't use a balanced XLR plug and expect people to know the difference! I work with professional audio gear and I know what Low Impedance balanced vs High Impedance Unbalanced line is. Stick with a regular 1/4" plug hardwired on the end and skip the XLR plug!Read full review
I removed and checked the wire connection, It is only two wires of the HOT and COLD(SHIELD). It's should be coming hum if long extension cables. I think must use 3 wires to this microphone XLR connection. That is no good result to some one said hum coming issue. And mike body is not metal so easy to come hum noise. Plastic is no shielded to Ground connection. But price is kind, and little more study than easy to fix this issue, That is change the XLR connector and must mic wires shield with 3 wires (one GND, HOT and COLD).
This microphone, priced at just $8, lasted for just two months of infrequent karaoke use. For no apparent reason, no damage or loose wiring, it just stopped working. It would be better to invest in name-brand microphones, even if you have to spend more.

It's a cheapie, and it's a good value for the price. You can't use a regular mike cable with a 1/4 plug with it, if you need a longer cord (and you will) you need to use XLR. It rejects well from behind, which is the reason I bought these. If you want a better sound, go to the Pyle SM-57 style mike. Much better IMO
