Caused problems
Prematurely wrote a good review on this product and once installed on my yz450fx the bike did nothing but overheat and piss coolant all over my garage. With my stock cap and radiator fan my bike never overheated or loss coolant from the overflow. Just idling in the garage it dumped several oz of fluid. After pulling the cap I couldn’t even see the coolant level in my bike. After talking to a friend he had issues with his bike overheating also once he installed this cap. Doesn't fit
I have a 2016 outlander xmr 1000r. I searched part numbers and this radiator cap is the same cap for basically all can am radiators. According to part numbers. Well it's too tall from the tabs that hook on the radiator neck so I had to bend them. That works fine. But the problem is. It does the same as my factory pressure. 1.1 cap. It lets fluid out at the same pressure even though it says it is a 1.8 pressure cap. Just about the point that my fan comes on. Just a bit of coolant comes out thru the overflow hose Same as factory cap. The temp gauge appears to work fine So if your wanting a cap for higher pressure get a different cap. Great for the price.
If you want to keep an eye on your temps and add some extra boil over protection. This is it for sure. I do some trail riding so this will help keeping an eye on temps. This makes a fantastic radiator cap while also letting me know the temp of my engine. I am currently running it on my YZ 125 and I’m having no issues. I do recommend putting a small bit of oil around the seals just to make it an easier install not that the seals are leaky as they sealed perfectly. Good insurance
I bought this for my XR650R and it fit perfect. The high pressure cap keeps the coolant from boiling over and it's nice be able to easily check the coolant temperature, particularly when riding slow in the summer.
