Baseball on television is no longer a passive experience with Play TV Baseball 3 by Radica Games. This standalone game plugs directly into a television's audio-visual input jacks and uses a home plate sensor, an infrared baseball bat, and a ball controller to simulate motions on the mound, in the field, and at the plate. Batting involves swinging a soft bat over the plate sensor as the pitch appears on the television screen. <br><br>If timed correctly, players will make contact and the view will switch from the batter's box to a three-quarter perspective in the field. Pitching involves selecting one of seven pitch types and its intended location by using a directional pad and holding down buttons on the ball. Players then perform a throwing motion to simulate the wind-up without releasing the ball. Fielding is automatic, with the option to throw to bases using the same motion involved in pitching.<br><br>Two play modes include Full Game and Mini-Games. The former offers players the opportunity to hit and pitch through nine innings, while the latter features a Home Run Derby and an activity called "Make the Play." Home Run Derby has up to four players alternating turns to see who can hit the most round-trippers. Make the Play has users pitching to a computer-controlled opponent and earning points for each out. Points are deducted each time the ball is thrown to the wrong base and when a runner scores.
