I brought a couple to make homebrew stirrer plate for preparing yeast cultures by varying the speed of a computer fan with neodymium magnets glued to the hub. It works well, for this application, but is sensitive to moisture, which causes leakage current. Putting an on off switch will fix this problem, and I have made 3 successful stir plates using surplus muffin fans, a couple of dime sized magnets, this dimmer, and a box.

This seems to work, but a very big negative is that OFF is not OFF... Yes, the LED light is off, but when I see the word off, it should mean electrically not connected. In reality, in the off position, the LED light strip is still getting power - for my light strip, it was getting about 18 mA when it was "OFF". Is this important - well, maybe. I use this in my RV, and when I am on battery, I really don't want ANYTHING drawing down power when it is off, especially if I plan to stay camped for a week without power. 18 mA is not a lot, but it should be zero to be "off". So I am going to put an on/off switch in series with this so that OFF really will mean OFF. They should really have said that there will be some low current passing through this dimmer even in the OFF position. I will still say that it does works to dim the LEDs, so I'm going to keep it, but people need to know that it passes through a parasitic load.Read full review

Works smooth like a quality dimmer should. I use it to dim LED street lights and building lights on my model railroad. Never a flicker, never has one of these given an ounce of trouble. My 24 stall roundhouse has 60 LEDs in it, all of them controlled with one of these dimmers.

Great price and it looks good I have bought 1 and then 2 more and have experimented with them. They work good the dimming is smooth and liner however they should not be pushed to there 8 amp limit and they have zero momentary short circuit protection. They are cheap they work as long as you keep those two things in mind. For the price I keep a spare just in case.

At first it worked just fine. Now it spins, but I could still control the light, I like it, I still use it.
