supplier advised after shipment that the knob was missing off the end of the stalk but as I live overseas I did not want to send it back. Fortunately, the knob off the failed unit is easy to remove and replace on the new one. The new one was removed from a new tv that had a broken screen apparently and there were gouge marks on it (from a less than sensitive removal operation I guess) and one of the tangs was bent but fortunately not broken so I was able to successfully install it after figuring out how to do so. put the tv back together without testing and hung it back on the wall. tried the remote and voila - it worked - a happy ending

It was very tedious to install, but it was very easy to get installed once you find the right place for it.
