The world is on the brink of destruction in 3DO's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a title set amidst the darkness and mayhem caused by demons, miscreants, and the dreaded plagues of Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death. As archangel Abaddon, players begin a perilous quest to find three individuals believed to be the Chosen before the world succumbs to the evil wrought by the Four Horsemen. Standing in the way are numerous beasts and creatures of the night, each of which must be dealt with using a variety of weapons, from swords and bows to automatic rifles and magic. <br><br>Each battle culminates in violent finishing moves choreographed by the same company behind the action sequences in The Matrix, The Crow, and Fight Club. In between each of the game's 18 levels are cinematic cut-scenes portrayed in a graphic novel style. Environments range from gothic buildings to battlefields to the bowels of hell itself. The adult nature of the game reveals itself with brief nudity, mature themes, and graphic violence. Players will be able to dismember opponents, riddle bodies with bullets, and even melt creatures as their blood splatters around the rooms and walls.
