One of the metal halides went out within 2 days of purchase.. but I'm not mad about it because from the moment I turned it on, I could tell that they were more like 6k bulbs (definitely not 14k as advertised) and already had some proper Hamiltons ordered. Also the cheap Odyssea T5's needed to go, Giesemann super actinics fixed that right up. This product should really only get two stars, but for the price, you get an excellent light housing and some decent ballasts. So I give the housing 4 stars! Please do yourself and your corals a favor and order proper lamps and t5s if you are ordering this light.

I am old school, and have always used metal halide lighting on all of my reef tanks. Now about these lights. They are not the best quality, BUT they can be improved quite easily. The standard T5 lights that come with them are cheap oddysea Lamps, which are supposed to be Actinic. The Halide Bulbs/Lamps are not of good quality, which shows as the colour temp which they quote, like 14000k or above, but the reality is they are more like 9000k. A nice looking affect, but again can be improved easily. So Basically expect to change out all lamps and bulbs to quality items, such as ATI actinics for the T5 and a proper Reef Metal halide Bulb/lamp which will give you a crisp white/blue light.. You will then have a fantastic looking light, which will grow anything and will look natural with the metal halide Light shimmer.Read full review

Quality is pretty good only problem the switches are on the side so if you have a canopy wouldn't recommend.
