Hinders rather than helps work.
The thread does not spool out evenly so you can't get a good, even stitch going. It catches and you have to give it a tug which pulls out too much thread. This problem is due to the design of the awl, not the thread. The thread is not bonded nylon and is 2 strands wrapped together that come unwound as you're working making it difficult to get both strands equally tight in the stitch. The ends fray out making it impossible to rethread. It comes with several needles, all one size, and all too short. For projects with varying weights of leather you need needles of varying length.

Instructions are not clear. Quick stitch is rusted and the bobine feed is malfunctioning . In general not an easy instrument to use When asked for help owner said to use lubricant.
