Uss Ward DD-139 by Flyhawk
The Flyhawk kit of the USS Ward is a 1/700 scale, full hull kit, which makes it unusual. Not only is it full hull but it also comes with brass fittings for the really small-scale items, which makes this a truly special kit. Personally, I purchased this kit to make a model of the USS Edsall DD-219 which was sunk on March 1, 1942 by the IJN cruisers Chikuma and Tone and battleships Hiei and Kirishima in a night action. The Edsall was looking for the survivors of the USS Pecos sinking earlier in the day. The Pecos was carrying survivors of USS Langley, which had also been sunk earlier on that day and also had men from the USS Marblehead on her. With the sinking of those three ships, over seven hundred men were lost at sea while only a little over 240 men were picked up by the USS Whipple DD-217. I plan on using this model as a tribute to those sailors, aviators, and soldiers who did their duties and died in those first awful months of WW2 in the South Pacific.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Flyhawk 1/700 USS Ward
1/700 scale, so pretty small. Some tiny pieces, and the Deluxe Edition includes complete PE suite, turned brass barrels, and some resin parts. Excellent fit and incredible detail. Some modellers criticise the amount of small parts, but they enhance the level of detail. Model is very accurate for USS Ward at Pearl Harbour.
