Excellent Speaker Base
The Yamaha SRT-700 is a pretty hefty machine compared to some of the other soundbar types of items I've seen. It is designed to go directly under the TV, though, saving some space. The subwoofers are built in, as opposed to being Bluetooth connected like many other soundbars. Setup couldn't be easier. You take this out of the box, out of the Styrofoam, put it under your tv, connect the digital audio cable to your TV, select the digital audio out on your TV, and you're up and running. Programming the Uverse remote to control this device is really easy as well - I think it took me about 30 seconds, including googling how to do it. The unit itself sounds good, crisp, and powerful. It's a huge improvement over my TV's speakers, and it does a great job of improving the sound without putting speakers everywhere for surround sound. My TV seemed to get really quiet on dialogue, and then the music/explosions would really be way too loud. This seems to have evened everything out very nicely as well. Overall, I'm very pleased with this device. It's barely visually noticeable but has made a great improvement to the audio experience. I bought this for my RV because it's difficult to put a wired surround sound system in a RV. It works better than advertised and I'm thrilled with it. It's so simple, just plug in the optical cord to the TV, plug it into the wall, and put the batteries in the remote, and it sounds great! Quality Sound. Great Value.
For the money, it sounds like it's worth more. I don't have a TV sitting on it. My TV is mounted on the wall and this unit is sitting below it on a shelf I made. Deep bass, clear vocals, clear sound. This was well worth the money spent. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
