This book picks up where Protein Power left off. It is a very comprehensive summary and critique of research into nutrition and medical management of the Insulin Resistance Syndrome. The book has an enormous amount of well-summarized information that is presented at a level that any person can understand. For physicians and the curious individual, there is ample reference to medical studies so that one can independently evaluate the available data. Books such as this run the risk of sounding dogmatic or "preachy", but the Eadses know their stuff, and they present it with reason and solid scientific foundation. They present a number of different options that will enhance anyone's health, and allow people to decide individually how strictly they want to adhere to the plan. The information is presented with comprehensive summaries at the end of each chapter, and this allows one to get started on dietary charges immediately, the day you buy the book. This text expands on and clarifies a number of questions in the first book. It also presents some interesting and thought-provoking ideas about how our diet has evolved and how the media actually has shaped the consumption of certain foods in the USA. In summary, this book lives up to its title as a genuine "Life Plan", and is both scientifically well supported and clearly presented to the general public.Read full review
