Very cool tablet! We got the ExoPC Slate for work to test our application on a Windows 8 tablet. When it arrived we started to fight over who gets to use it! :) Pros: The ExoPC Slate is nicely built, feels high quality, and runs one or two regular applications well. Windows 8 (Consumer Preview) is very smooth on this tablet and makes it faster (than with W7). The 64GB SSD disk, 2GB Ram, two USB ports, and SD card slot make it a great value. Easy to use and excellent buy! Con: The battery life is short - make sure it is charged and screen brightness is down before travel. 4 out of 5 Stars (-1 star for the battery)
After owning both types of tablets (pads, like the ASUS Transformer, and slates, like the ExoPC Slate), I will probably never go back to pad type tablets! This slate tablet is a fantastic tool for students. The built in Journal program made note taking so much easier and more easily organized, the handwriting recognition, brand new, was very accurate, and it LEARNS from what you write, greatly increasing the accuracy from YOUR handwriting. The tech specs are also quite shocking for a tablet. The hyperthreaded Atom managed to handle most of the business and programming apps that I loaded on it with relative ease. 2 GB of DDR2 RAM is easily double what most high end pad tablets come equipped with, and the 64 GB solid state drive performs quite well for loading windows and programs. And yes, the Crystal HD accelerator makes a HUGE difference. This thing can handle 1080p easily :) Battery life hovers around an average of 3-5 hours depending on use. With Adobe Lightroom being heavily used along with updates going in the background, the tablet got around 3 hours of battery life. Using just the notes software, it made it through my full class day (11:00 a.m - 6:15 p.m). That includes a little youtube break ;] If you are a fan of Windows 8, this tablet does perform quite well with the consumer preview. Drivers loaded with relative ease. I personally don't like Windows 8 in its current state, but to those who do, it works quite well. Just have an external DVD drive ready :DRead full review
Very pleased with the ExoPC which I purchased from BZmom93. I get the full 3.5 hours of use under constant load for which this tablet is rated. If I use it off and on, the battery lasts into the next day. Using a MiFi 4G LTE, I have gotten 5.9 Meg download speeds and 4.4 Meg upload speeds. The ExoPC gives the full internet experience, running Java, which the other tablets cannot run. You get the desktop experience in a very light tablet. You can't ask for anything more.
I was looking for a tablet that offered Windows 7 and USB ports. This tablet offered both and a whole lot more.I like the size of the tablet. I also like the fact that I have two OS(even though I mostl use Windows). After researching various tablets, I concluded that this was the best tablet for me. I was reluctant to buying an electronic device over the internet, but the seller answered ALL of my questions promptly. The only issues that I have with this device is the lack of companies that offer accessories. I had to order my folio/with a keyboard from a company in the UK. As of today, I am still waiting on the folio.
Great price and works well when plugged into the adapter. The shortcomings were that the screen would dim to the point of unusable when not plugged in. There was no way to adjust this. Also, this did not have auto orientation. It would be either set in portrait or landscape mode. It does not automatically change when you turn the computer. No bluetooth. I will say that I'm running a beta version of Windows 8 so it may work fine with Windows 7. Wait for the Microsoft Surface.
We looked at many, many makes and chose this tablet. We are very pleased with it. It is perfect for our needs (work related). True, the apps are not yet as plentful, but we needed Office more than anything. It is fast, easy to run, wonderful screen, light weight. Just a great machine over all.
Just got this tablet. Seems to be a great tablet for the price. Not sure what the battery life is going to be but it is very light. Bought it for my 81 yr old mother becuase she wanted something like the android but did not want to learn another os. So far it seems to be a good value.
This Slate was an excellent purchase and have enjoyed it. The only problem was the User Interface that they braged about all over was not there. Its all over the ads, the box it came in and even the manual that came with it. So if thats what your expecting then you will just have to go to Canada and let them personally have their way with you. No better and no worse than any other tablet on the market today.
The Slate it's a great machine, but it doesn't has a lot of apps. It has Windows and it's very fast. The battery life it's ok but the fan it's almost all the time in on.
Pros-Windows 7/8 (personal preference) Flash Runs the programs I need (especially real business progs) Great screen, like the SSD, touchscreen very responsive Tablet format very handy/portable Cons-Probably not for heavy gamers Would I buy again - yes I did!
