The Best Non-Touchscreen Kindle E-Reader
As my title says I consider it the best of the non-touchscreen kindle readers. It was the first 6" screen Kindles to have 4 Gigs of memory. It was also available with both Wi-Fi and 3G communications capability as an option and was the first to have the E-Ink Pearl screen which had better contrast and 16 grey scale levels. The hardware keyboard was much more convenient than the on screen keyboard on the D01100 generation 4 and 5 units which also did not have touch screens. making keyboard operation a pain. It also has the advantage of still having many accessories and covers available for it from both ebay and Amazon sources while the prior generation Kindle 2 does not. Based on my own buying experience good condition used units are available for prices in the $50 to $60 range with the ones offering both wi-fi and 3G communications bringing a bit of a premium price. Great purchase
I bought this as a back up ereader for when I am on vacation ( since my kindle paperwhite fell in the pool last time I was on vacation and I was left with nothing "I wanted" to read for the rest of my trip. This kindle keyboard reads as easily as my paper white kindle used to read , it's easy to see in bright sun and the battery life is really good too. Good Old Kindle
My Kindle Keyboard was broken recently. I had it for 10 years. It has text to speech, not like the newer one that require audio adapter. I bought a replace one from eBay. Great for summer outdoor reading. Buttons are great!
Perfect for summer! I use it when I read outdoors and I love having a novel device. I decided to separate books by theme, so my kindle keyboard has nothing but diaries and autobiographies and I only read it when I sit outdoors and it is great. It is a novelty item for those whole love eReaders as I do. I like real buttons much better than a touchscreen. No vocabulary builder or Wikipedia. Syncing does not work with other Kindles. Sweet Little Kindle (D00901)
This is the lightest weight ereader I know of, and it is perfect for someone like me who has painful joints. The e-ink (black & white) is its second selling point for me, no fading in the glare of the sun, no eye strain after reading for hours. The e-ink also uses virtually no energy, increasing the battery life. If you want the battery to last even longer, turn off the wireless connection. However, as much as I love this little black & white gem, photos and magazines which are in color can be difficult to render into greyscale and still be discernible. Great if you have active content that won't work on newer Kindles
I really love this Kindle Touch. I bought it because the active content will not work on the new Kindles. However, the one I bought was supposed to be 3G and it wasn't. It was only wi-fi. This is the one I carry with me, as when waiting in a doctors office, if I get tired of reading, I can play some word games. My wife loves a kindle keyboard. This item looks new! It works fantastically, and it has the tactile user interface (keyboard...those are her words) that she likes. The recharge cord is a bit short since she will have it plugged in while reading, not a big deal as we have a box full of cords and most people probably do not read while plugged in. Happy Reader!
I wanted a replacement for my old Kindle that I got 4-5 years ago that was beginning to show some wear (cracks on the frame and a black splotch inside the center of the reading area). I didn't want to pay full price for a new one so I took a chance on this one based on good dealer reviews. It's the same model as my old one except I see Yahoo ads as the screensaver when switched off instead of the old classical author photos I used to see. No big deal to me. Also, on the plus side! My battery seems to last twice as long on this new referb (several weeks) with my normal 2-3 hrs reading a night. seems I charged my old one a lot more; once a week or so to keep it alive.
