Not the Latest, but the Greatest
Keep in mind that the Amazon Kindle 2nd Generation is no longer available new. It has been surpassed by several newer generations of Kindle Readers. But some people, like me, do not buy into newer technology, such as touch-screen readers, just for the sake of having the latest model. I love the Kindle 2nd Generation, and I purchased this refurbished Kindle 2nd Generation as a backup to my current Kindle 2nd Generation which was given to me by a friend. I have been having issues with my current Kindle 2nd Generation, and I just wanted to have a backup in case it conked out. The best things about the Amazon Kindle 2nd Generation: (1.) The Kindle 2nd Generation has a physical keyboard right on the face of the reader. (2.) It is very easy to set up Collections on the Kindle 2nd Generation (I like to keep my books organized by either genre or author.) (3.) The Kindle 2nd Generation never loses your place in a book, even if you are reading two or more books simultaneously. (4.) I find the Kindle 2nd Generation way more user friendly for reading than touch-screen readers such as the Fire HD 8 - which I also have. (5.) The OEM Kindle battery has a really long life, but is easy to replace when it finally dies. (But you must replace it with an OEM Kindle battery.)Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Obsolete and useless!
These kindles can no longer connect to wifi or whisper net. I only found out after I bought and replaced the battery. when I couldn’t connect it to deregister it, I went on line to find that 2 years ago 2g and 3g were discontinued making these early kindles basically obsolete. Perfect replacement
My 98 year old mom's kindle in this model just quit working. I'm so happy not to have to go through the big learning curve of replacing it with a different model. This one is exactly identical to hers right down to the slight opening in the edge where the back has separated a little. Works better than the old one. The Screen Is Frozen.
