I recently bought a new iMac with OS 10.7 Lion to replace my beloved 6 year old G5 model (running OS 10.4 tiger) and while the on-board help was useful, I found I needed a more comprehensive and detailed reference guide to learn all the ins and outs of this up-to-date OS. I found what I desired in this large volume, and more. Gruman writes an intelligent and well reasoned tutorial, loaded with specific information on how to do just about anything you'd need, useful even to a seasoned mac user. This compares in quality to the Mac OS 10.4 Bible written by another tech (and mac) savvy author, Brad Miser. Athough the latter is structured more like a college textbook, the current OS book takes a different approach, but is well indexed and just as useful. So far I've found no down side to this volume, although it will take some time to read all 700+ pages of info. Indispensable for the intermediate to advanced mac user.Read full review
