Reviews"Frank Lowen performs miracles with his hands on even the most difficult patients and the illnesses they present with. Effortlessly bridging the gap between science, anatomy, and healing, Lowen has the gift of communicating what he perceives with his hands, his outer and inner vision, and his unique intelligence. Lowen is one of the most gifted healers of our time. I am excited that finally this sensitive, beautiful, and important work is now in writing and accessible to all of us." -Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD, founder of the American Academy of Neural Therapy   "A brilliant opus, The Roots and Philosophy of Dynamic Manual Interface provides substantial insight and an overview of the techniques and treatment as taught and learned in Frank Lowen's courses. It opens up new horizons." -Marion Lippmann, MD, surgeon "Frank Lowen's inspirational teachings are finally in print! He has consolidated many years of experience to share with us the foundation for his manual artistry. Through quotes and descriptions of key concepts and techniques, Lowen consistently acknowledges Jean-Pierre Barral, the developer of Visceral Manipulation, as the major influence for his continued original work. Lowen has always viewed anatomy as a treasure hunt and he generates excitement for tissue dynamics, fluidity, and fascial relationships within the pages of this premier text." -Gail Wetzler, PT, EDO, BI-D, director of the department of Visceral Manipulation for the Barral Institute    "Frank Lowen has once again shown himself to be a master pearl diver. He dives into the ocean of information and consciousness, and subtly brings up the most exquisite pearls." -Judy Osborne, PT, LMT, LAc   "This should be a primer for any manual therapist, and those of us doing Lowen's work will finally have something to give to patients who ask, 'What are you doing?'"  -Ingeborg Eibl, DC   "It never ceases to amaze me and my patients what happens as I apply the building blocks of Lowen's work. The results are often profoundly efficient and astonishing." -Barbara Jolley, DC, ND

SynopsisThe Roots and Philosophy of Dynamic Manual Interface is a personal account of the development and evolution of Frank Lowen's hands-on therapy. A former program director and popular instructor at the Upledger Institute, Lowen begins with hisown history and an account of the unique events that have shaped his career. Originally schooled as an artist, Lowen developed an interest in alternative medicine and bodywork. He describes his training at the Upledger Institute (which led to teaching positions and directing the institute's visceral manipulation program) aswell as his work with Jean-Pierre Barral, described by Time magazine as a top healing innovator in the new millennium. Lowen goes on to describe the emergence of his own techniques and new findings that have become the basis for his Dynamic Manual Interface (DMI) method. Implementing light touch, DMI works with tissue movements, rhythms, and relationships not addressed in other manual therapies such as craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation. DMI also incorporatesnew techniques for feeling and resolving tension patterns based on Lowen's discovery of correlations between the hands and different bodily systems. Results of this approach, explored in the book, include restored balance, accelerated healing, decreased pain, and improved mental clarity., The Roots and Philosophy of Dynamic Manual Interface is a personal account of the development and evolution of Frank Lowen's hands-on therapy.
