Has your oil cooler line sprung a leak?. Dorman Oil Cooler Line --. 2005 Silverado 1500 HD Base Upper. 2001-2003, 2005 Silverado 1500 HD LS Upper. 2001-2003, 2005-2006 Silverado 1500 HD LT Upper. 2007 Silverado 1500 HD Classic LT Upper.
The flare on the tube at the radiator end is NOT the correct taper, the tooling must be worn out at the manufacturer. The problem is in the geometry of the flare, you will not be able to seat it properly into the radiator. You can't file the problem away, it's not a matter of the tip being too long, it's the taper length and width in relation to the "flat" that the clip rests on, it won't allow you to seat the retainer clip in no matter what you do, filing it shorter does not help.
I had to cut the line just past the flare and use a compression fitting to join the old line end to the new unit, yes it works, is it what I paid for, no. It's only trans pressure and not a brake line but it's the kind of thing that just should not happen, seems like QUALITY CONTROL should have caught that...
