The sleek and stylish black and silver Uniden D1660 single line telephone, ideal for home and small business use, can be expanded to a maximum of 12 handsets using one phone jack. Handsets are powered by a rechargeable NiMH battery pack that has long battery and battery standby life. The phone system is compatible with up to two Uniden DRX100 range extender that allows you to talk farther away from the base. For ease of use, handsets have speakerphones, you can intercom other phones within the system, and you can transfer calls between phones. When an outside call comes in, two cordless handsets and the base can join in a conference call with the outside caller. To keep a call private, you can activate the privacy mode to assure that no other handsets can join your call.The budget-friendly, durable, and easy to use phone system employs Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications technology. DECT 6.0 technology, which operates at 1.9GHz, is a cordless telephone platform that provides improved range without needing to boost the power. The platform has been set aside exclusively for cordless phone use, giving DECT 6.0 phones crystal-clear sound quality that is not affected by interference created by wireless networks, other DECT systems, baby monitors and other wireless devices, and Bluetooth technology. The hearing aid compatible phones provide reduced noise and interference when used with most T-coil equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants. Intelligent eco-mode automatically reduces handset power consumption for longer battery life by suppressing handset transmission power when the handset is close to the base unit while silent mode silences all system ringers at the touch of a button. The phone can hold up to 100 names and numbers in its phone book, and once you set up your phone book in one handset, all the other handsets automatically have it stored. The phone system is compatible with Caller ID/Call Waiting service, available with a subscription from your telephone service provider. With this service, a beep alerts you to a call coming in, and the Caller ID display on the phone shows the name and number of the person calling. You can store up to 50 names and numbers in memory when you use the service. If you subscribe to a voice mail service, a message waiting indicator light on your handset tells you when there’s a new voice mail.A handset can be programmed to answer a call when you press any key on the 12-key dial pad. If you often have to enter a series of digits or a code number during a call, you can save that code number to a phonebook entry and use the phonebook to send the code number. You’ll never need to search for a lost handset, just press the find button on the base, and it will beep. The display, owner’s manual, and voice prompts come in English, Spanish, and French. Uniden accessories, such as cordless telephone batteries and AC adapters, are available. Phones meet ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency. Good basic phone with good voice quality.
The volume is good from both the handset to your ear and when using the speakerphone function. The only thing I wish it would be capable of would be the ability to use it as a speakerphone without having to remove it from the charging base. Excellent replacement, great price, just plug in battery and sit it in the cradle and it's all set up!
Our phones take a beating and we never have enough handsets as they seem to magically migrate from room to room. I had bough all new battery packs and extras a few months ago, but one handset that had taken several beatings went out. I bought a couple extra handsets, plugged the battery pack in, and set it on the cradle of the base station and it was instantly usable.
