A Nice Convenience!
I bought a used 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty about a month ago. The truck has the tailgate step and assist bar so the tailgate is heavier than one without it. Although my wife and I, who are both in our sixties, are still capable of opening and closing the tailgate I decided a little assistance would be nice. I purchased this tail gate assist shock and I am very pleased with it. The installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. The installation took about an hour and was done at an easy pace. For someone who's done one before, or who was in a hurry it could be done in less than thirty minutes. Unhappy
I bought this same item for my 2006 Ford and it worked extremely well. As a matter of fact it was still working 10 years later when I traded the truck in. It may have been a different dealer but the same make. When I purchased my new truck a 2016 Ford the first thing I bought for it was this same tailgate strut. It worked twice and the third time the tailgate fell down as the lower ball connection popped off. It has popped off several times since then.
