About this product

Product Information

The Nikon Nikkor AF Zoom lens is exclusively designed for FX digitals and 35mm Nikon camera bodies. It features fast speeds, a durable build, and fantastic ergonomics. Its close focus design features 13 elements in 10 groups and an internal focusing mechanism. With this mechanism, only the focus ring moves as you curate your image. This delivers sharper performance and easier operation, due to the avoidance of additional moving parts when taking pictures. The lens determines the camera's distance to the subject and relays it back to the camera. This can help with calibration of the exposure meter, especially with the on-camera flash. The Hard Infinity Focus Stop is great for astronomy as it offers a fixed laboratory-perfect focus for the entire night. An HB-5 plastic bayonet hood protects the lens from unprecedented damage, especially when it's not being used. This Nikon NIKKOR telephoto lens offers wide-angle shooting, which can be used in any type of photography. It's especially beneficial for travel photos, close-ups, and portraits. They are compatible with 62 mm screw-on filters.Depending on the level to which you zoom this 35-135 mm device, you'll be provided with an angle of view that rests between 18 and 62 degrees. The minimum focusing distance is just under 5 feet, allowing you to achieve sharpness and clarity with any close-up photo you take. The seven diaphragm blades provide a natural aperture setting, the maximum of which rests between f/3.5 and f/4.5. The autofocus feature is fast and smooth, and it can be directly controlled via the focus ring or camera. This Nikon NIKKOR 135 mm lens measures at 2.83 by 4.6 inches, so it's small enough to fit in a purse or messenger bag. It weighs around 22 ounces, so it won't add much weight to your digital or film camera. This lens is compatible with a Nikon F mount. It comes in an all-black construction with easy to read yellow and white markings to denote the most important settings. They've positioned these settings in a manner that's simple to understand for beginners and expert photographers alike. The actual body of these lenses is built entirely from metal for a long-lasting and durable product. It can be used with both film and digital SLR cameras without any adverse impact on picture quality. This model is also compatible with several Fuji devices. The glass is outfitted with numerous multi-coatings, and the quality of these treatments is extremely high. These coatings ensure that the glass is resistant to both scratches and condensation. They also help to eliminate any unwanted distortions, from flare to chromatic aberration. Nikon first introduced this NIKKOR lens to the market in 1988. One of the more notable features is the fantastic bokeh that can be achieved with each photo you take. These lenses produce a clean and natural bokeh effect that can make every picture appear professional. Another effect that this lens does well is contrast, as is designed to portray crisp, accurate colors and lighting.

    Sharp Lens, but Heavy

This thing is a tank. Very heavy. It works like a dream though. Sharp images. Best images I took with it were outdoor using natural lighting. This is my first push-pull lens I have used. Also my first AF zoom lens that has a macro setting. When you push the little silver button and turn it to macro setting, you have to manually focus, but that's just fine with me. I paid too much for this 30 year old lens, after seeing it was cheaper elsewhere - an expensive lesson for me. But, it was a birthday gift for my daughter, who has a Nikon D90. It's amazing this old lens works great on a digital SLR. I want to get one of these lenses for myself now.

    Boat Anchor Heavy

Old school, bulletproof lens made with a lot of metal. Thus, it is heavy. My DSLR camera (a Nikon D90) is heavy enough by itself when talking hand-held shots, and this adds noticeably to the load. Often found at a bargain price currently, but be prepared for the weight penalty.

  • Well worth the price.

A good value from Nikon. I'm a beginner, so I can't add too much, as far as comparisons go. All I can say is I purchased this zoom lens at a good price, and the pictures speak for themselves. They were taken with Nikon D5200, under bright sun light, near the beach with a lens hood. Shutter speed, aperture and ISO info. were not recorded (sorry), and no filters were used. The only post editing that was done was cropping.

  • At the price it’s a good value

Arrived on schedule. Very well packaged. Operates as advertised. Focus ring seems a little loose but doesn’t affect operation. You must set aperture ring to f22 avoid a F EE error on a d 200. You must set the focus ring to 35mm to use the macro.

  • Nikon AF 35-135 / 3.5-4.5 MKI

The lens is made in Japan, the build quality is quite good, the lens itself is quite heavy, weighs more than 600 grams. Also, the lens in the most compact position (at 35mm focal length and when focusing on infinity) is quite long. Nikon AF 35-135 / 3.5-4.5 MKI has a fairly fast autofocus. But, like other similar lenses of that era, it has an overly large MDF (in the normal state of the lens), which is as much as 1.4 meters, which sometimes causes inconvenience in work. The Nikon AF 35-135 / 3.5-4.5 MKI has a macro mode. To switch to macro mode, set the focal length to 135mm, press the special ‘M’ button and turn the wide, rubberized zoom ring to the M ′ mark. In this position, you can shoot a macro with a maximum zoom ratio of 1: 3.5 (the focusing distance is 38 cm). Auto focus in macro mode does not work. In macro mode, the Nikon AF 35-135 / 3.5-4.5 MKI focus ring becomes almost useless, and for focusing will have to move the entire camera.

  • Well built.

It is perfect for full frame camera, focal length range 35 mm to 135 mm is perfect for Portraits, wide enough to do landscapes and sharp enough in the mid ranges 135 mm is excellent for bokeh, I will say this lens is perfect for outside shooting. And perfect for my hand as well.

  • Great quality for the price

I took a chance with a lens priced this low and I am glad I did. It is much sharper than expected. It doesn't perform well in low light but that is to be expected with a smaller aperture.

  • Beautiful Photos!

Took my first photography class last spring, that's when I ditched my kit lens for the first time. I have an old Nikon D40X. This lens works great. Fantastic quality. It's vintage, but no so old that I can't read the important information a newbie needs see! I'm so excited. My zen nature photos have been taken to the next level. Priced right for a newbie to learn! Thanks for passing this gem along. :)

  • Great All-Around Lens

I use to use 28-85's or 35-105's for my all in one lens, but this lens is now my all in one lens. This Nikkor is sharp, durable, solid and optics are impeccable . And I could not beat the price !!! So if you are looking for a single lens to carry around, definitely look at this one for your auto-focusing Nikon bodies.
