This Distagon have a good build quality as others CZ lenses. Its a little wider than standart 50mm lenses, and its much better for myself now, after using him for two mounth. But Distagon have little perspective, and straight vertical lines have little angle at the borderes of frame, bit its not high and critical. Quality of pictures and especially colors much interesting than from Nikon lenses, for me. Its metal body give fantastic feelings of handling. But have some weight, which on heavy FX cameras balances lense/camera, but on small DX cameras can be disbalance. Focusing ring (all F/2.0) have not so long rotation that a F/1.4 lesnes, consider that CZ positions 2/35 as a "reportage" lens. Over all its a fast focusing stroll walking/landscape allday lense, which i used as a standart angle on D600.Read full review
Everyone knows Zeiss makes the very best lenses in the world. What people may not know is that their Nikon made ZF Distagon, Planar, and Makro lenses are almost optically cousins of the much more expensive CP2 series. The Distagon 35mm f2.0 is no exception to that rule. Zeiss does also make a 1.4 for about 500 or so dollars more but I think it is more worth it to get this one. Optic quality is unspeakable, the depth of field you get and the clarity will make you just want a fleet of primes and get rid of all your cheaper zooms. I have used these for event photography, cinematography, and even some action shots (the wide aperture allows me to crank the shutter speed). If you get primes GET ZEISS!!! They are more expensive but the money is worth it and there are some great deals here on Ebay for all of the Distagon, Planar, and Makro lenses.Read full review

The lens is stunning. The pictures taken are among the best I ever shot. I miss the chip not very much, I have a D700 and I shot always in Manual or Aperture mode.
