It's a little pricey for a few pieces of sheet metal, but the template makes it easy to locate the necessary holes in the Square D panel. I'm under the impression that the mechanical interlock has to be the same manufacturer as electrical panel to meet code. The mechanical interlock system allows you to feed emergency power any where you want in the house. Of course, you're limited by the power of the portable generator. The back feed circuit breaker to the portable generator has to be in the top right position which normally means you'll have to relocate one or two circuit breakers. There are several videos on the internet which describe the installation of the mechanical interlock and the rest of the electrical work. You have to feel comfortable with electrical work to install this device and the other components. Otherwise, hire an electrician.Read full review

This was the best price I found anywhere. I was about to purchase one from a big box store, but this one was on sale here on eBay. To determine if this is the correct model for your breaker panel it's best to remove the front cover/door assembly and locate a tag inside the main box. The tag on mine was on the left side near the top. The tag will have a list of accessories and their part numbers. Mine identified this; HOMCGK2(C), as the correct interlock kit for my Homeline 200 amp panel. The model number may or may not have the C at the end. Mine did not, but the HOMCGK2C or the HOMCGK2 are interchangeable.
