Stellar writing and acting as usually, but Season 9 does not allow us to get to know the titular character. "The Mother" is only in frame for a moment before she is whisked away into darkness. Besides not seeing Ted and Tracy's relationship in the beginning stages (Season 2 fan here) except for one or two flashbacks, the only "beef" I have with Season 9 is that too many of the episodes-if not all of them- take place at the Farhampton Inn. A few episodes, no problem, but the whole season? The final episode feels rushed, where so much happens with all the characters over like 5-15 years, but I do love the "book-ended" feel of the final scene. Fans blew up at the conclusion of the show, and I can feel their frustration, but I don't write a well-respected worldwide TV show, so I will commend the writers where they excel. Season 1 and 2 of this show are my most favorite, and to see them harken back to those times and the history there was awesome. As a conclusion, my favorite episode in S9 was "Rehearsal Dinner", phenomenal acting by Neil Patrick Harris(Barney), especially scenes where he thinks the dinner is at a Laser Tag place. This show for me used to be Neil carrying the show, but it is awesome to see the other actors grow and become comedic equals as well. "Ring-bear or Ringbear-er?" I cannot just recommend this show, but like candy, good music or comfy clothes-it is a necessity.Read full review
It is rather surprising Disney still made some contents exclusive to DVD. So far, the good ending can only be seen on DVDs, not on any online video on demand service. As interesting as this show can be, to many, ending really defines how the narration of the show can be interpreted. I am willing to pay to see a good ending for the show I otherwise enjoy.

I bought this product as I have all te seasons, so I could not miss the final one! I like the fact that everything is around the marriage ceremony. It is also great that there is an alternate ending in the DVD. I do not agree with the policy of not releasing the series in blu-ray. The picture is good, but with blu-ray it would superior! I believe that How I met your Mother is one of the best series ever created and it is a great competitor of the Friend's series.
Laughing my a** off and crying my eyes out; the amazing final year of the series does not disappoint. *SPOILER ALERT* Even the somewhat sad revelation is totally turned around by new happiness. Couldn't have had a better ending.
