I have an old iPad (30-pin access) that I use to mirror iPad image on TV using HDMI-30 pin adapter. I wanted to use the same adapter on a newer iPad (lightening access). It did not work. I think this was designed by Apple for docks where your phone would sit on top of the adapter because it's not connected unless it is firmly up against the body of the phone. This makes sense for stability but means you can't use a case with it. ipod 30 pin to lighting that transmist audio!
For those who have certain cars that use the ipod 30 pin (old school cord) and need an adapter to lighting cable (new school) and want audio then this is the the item you will need.. DO NOT get the knock off version, they dont have the internal pin(s) set up to transfer audio.. Thus get the genuine apple lighting to 30 pin adapter and you will have no problems..
