my fondest video game memories started on the PlayStation 1 console. I still have my original blocky grey one to this day. This PS-one though is the same animal but in a compact size with more options for portability then anything else. you can play as is, or hook it up to a 5" PlayStation lc screen for a self contained model, or even hook the both of them to a compatible battery pack they made for it and you can take the whole unit on the go. they definately took a great conept and made it better with this redesigned version.

While the item does turn on it has physical issues especially when trying to open it past 90 degrees. As i suspected the item had been repaired and quite poorly. the screen mounts around the speakers are broken which is why its having issues opening. Only reason i am not returning is because it works electrically.

I recently picked up a PSOne for between 30 and 40 bucks--a very reasonable price considering it fits my needs perfectly. I have several PlayStation 1 games, and I intend to get more, and I also have a PlayStation 2 console. While I can play the PS 1 games on the PS 2 console, saving game progress on the PS 2 is often an exasperating experience. This is not a problem with the PSOne, and I can get memory cards for the PSOne at a very reasonable price. The design of the PSOne is very simple: 2 slots for game controllers, 2 slots for memory cards, a power cord connection, and a connection to the TV...that's it. This makes the system very compact. If I pack any of my other game consoles (I have 3 Nintendo systems) in a suitcase, I have to leave something behind...they're that bulky. Not so the PSOne. I can easily slip it into a nook or cranny in my suitcase; I needn't leave anything behind. As I tend to travel light, I find this a very important feature. Finally, as an added bonus, I can play music CDs on the PSOne. Now granted, the interface for this is rather cheesy; still, I have three rather bulky Nintendo systems, and none of them can play CDs. A nod to the PSOne for this feature. I would definitely purchase this product again and, in fact, may pick up a couple more for backup. All in all, I would rate this as a superior product.Read full review
I owned the Playstation 2 first and was interested in specific games that I soon found out were only available as PS1 format. I like the classic games. I tried playing a PS1 game in my PS2 but the PS1 memory card was a trick to use. Instead of leaving the game to collect dust I invested in buying the classic Playstation console. It offers a lot of great games and I don't have a memory card issue now. I think its worth it to purchase it because it offers the chance to relive old styles of gaming. I also got a chance to check out the original Final Fantasy games and how they first started out. It does have it quirks like most start out consoles. Sometimes a button sticks but its vintage and you should expect some issues with something that has been around the block and back. Over all its worth it just watch the price you pay. I recommend it to those who haven't experienced what it used to be like to play. Technology has come a long way in gaming; check out how they first began.Read full review
This PlayStation the only issue was that the lid wasn't wanting to stay closed this can be fixed by simply putting something on top of the disc lid just heavy enough that it doesn't pop out but it also was able to be fixed by taking apart the system in cleaning the eject button in shaft with a little bit of soap and water and a little scrub brush I was expecting like the the outlet Port just suffer or the disc drive not to spin but to be absolutely honest this unit was absolutely perfect I got it to run I actually happen to have a spare bit of chords so now my nephew's when they come over get to play games with their uncle that he played when he was their age just wow I came and refer to it as a four parts unit with how amazing it was taken care of.

The PSOne has issues with the lid closing and the controller is not detected unless it is taken out and put back in a few times, but it does eventually work. The system itself works fine and the games run without issue. I also appreciate how well it was packaged and the speed of delivery.
