Very light duty; fragile and rough controls. But it works. At least it worked for me. Read the instructions and follow exactly. Reviewer who said the Audacity software does not convert .aud (Audacity) files to .mp3 is NOT correct. It does convert and it is very easy. The transfer from cassette creates a .aud (Audacity) file. Once that file is created and the file is open in Audacity, just click File, then click Export Audio. It automatically exports to a .mp3 format.

It's a great idea but if it were not for the humming sound from the recorder to the computer it would be a perfect item. Oh, it works well with the headphones nothing wrong there in fact, sounds nice there. The only problem is when it's being transferred to the computer you can hear a loud humming noise from the cassette machine as it mixes with the sound of the MP3 Until this problem gets fixed, I can't recommend it Not impressed with what I paid for it because of the extra sound. As far as the quality of the machine. It is nice and sturdy. It plays really well when listening through headphones. But the quality of the machine diminishes when you begin to transfer from the machine to the PC.

This cassett player is pretty cheaply made...and cheaply priced. A good value for the money. But, it takes a little skill and practice to get good results. It comes with a mini CD ROM with an early version of Audacity. But, since Audacity is a free program, it makes more sense to download and install the latest version and get the latest features. I haven't tried to use it with any other audio editors. Maybe others have. The USB setup in Audacity isn't too difficult but, requires knowledge of Audacity. This cassette player can be used as a stand-alone player using the included (very cheap) ear buds' Mechanically, it's kind of fagile but, with careful use, should serve well. Audio quality is good and motor noise not too bad. The head azimuth adjustment can be accessed pretty easily (for those who do that sort of adjustments). I hope that helps. Read full review

Over the years I have collected a large number of music cassettes. The electronic file converter has made the task of converting cassettes to other formats such as CDs very easy.

Pretty cool little cassette machine . Gone are the days of cassettes , so I've been playing them in my truck via the aux plugin . It does seem a bit fragile . I intend to download my old tapes into my computer then on to a cd . I can't comment about that part of it yet . 20 bucks , can't complain about that .
