This gun works well and does a good job. I have now coated a few different pieces with good results. As others have pointed out, you have to be very gentle with it. The lock did break the second day i used it, but the cup fits so tight the lock isnt needed. There was also a couple cracks in the plastic on the handle, a bit of glue and all good. For a beginner that does not have an air compressor give this a try.

this is a very cheap hobby gun, it does what it says it will do but do yourself a favor and buy better quality gun. The biggest complaint is the the cup for the powder is poorly designed. The way it is designed makes it difficult to load the powder and when you overfill it your expensive powder ends up all over the floor! Once the powder is loaded good luck getting the cup back on. The tolerance between the plastic parts is so tight that when you try to put the cup on any powder that got on the edges makes it like super glue in that you cannot turn the cap back to install the cup assembly back on the gun and lock back into place. Then if you over fill it, it does not have enough air flow to push powder out then you have to take the cup pack off spilling MORE powder. If it had a fill line showing the max powder level it may help! And OH directions would be a nice touch!Read full review

I bought this identical gun as a kit with carrying case from Sears many years ago for $150. Best feature is that it does not need compressed air, which is very convenient. It worked great for small jobs, but the plastic body broke at the hand grip. I fiberglassed it back together but it could not be disassembled ever again. I used it for a few small jobs and it still works, but only barely as the fan support was also fractured. When I saw the same product on ebay recently I researched it and found that most people had the same experience I had. Poor quality material did not last. If you drop it, it will likely break. Surprisingly, Summit Racing still sells it today. For $50, however, I felt it was a good risk as long as I recognize that I have to be very careful with it and handle it lightly. It was delivered promptly and in new condition. I have only plugged it in and tested that it operates. I can plug it in anywhere and have a part coated and ready for the oven in 10 minutes. Just remember it is somewhat fragile and only suitable for hobbyists.Read full review

So this gun gets you in the game, but its not going to be a long term solution if you want to powder coat a lot. If you plan to powdercoat as anything more than just a hobbiest, this is going to fall short. It leaks.. a lot. Mostly out the right hand side, and all over your hand. Changing colors takes a long time.. the whole gun has to be cleaned and the cartridge has to be washed with water and then dried.. and you still won't get it perfectly clean. The grounding is insufficient for anything more than 1 layer. Also the cartridge only holds a small amount of powder. That said, you don't need an air compressor, you only need $50 to get started (with the gun at least) and it is fairly easily portable. Would still buy it again. I put some duct tape along the seams to stop the massive leak and I sprayed th cartidge with a layer of rattle can clear to make the intake fit tighter into the gun. Read full review

works well for a starter powder gun. easy to set up. Only bad is that powder gets all over the thing and the cup is sometimes difficult to open. The 7 times I have used it so far, it is consistent and reliable. Highly recommend for the noobs like myself
