It's a fuse
It's a fuse. Looks like a fuse, sits there quietly, hopefully never changes into an ex-fuse, a former fuse, an expired fuse, or even a defunct parrot. Fuses stop being fuses once they do their thing. This makes writing a product review difficult. Adding to the issue is that fuses don't actually fuse; if anything, they un-fuse, if the verb means anything in English. Something that, if it performs its function, becomes trash; a poor cardboard cylinder with little cups on the ends. No further use. On the other hand, without these self-sacrificing things, some other component then becomes either a fuse, an ignition source, or an unidentifiable melted mass. This particular fuse is supposed to be very edgy. It will tear its little wire heart out so fast that delicate downstream transistors never get damaged. Thus, it is a semiconductor fuse. One might think that it contained a semiconductor, but this is not the case just as a fire hydrant does not contain any fire at all.
