I live in North Carolina. Much of the year the humidity is too high to experience static discharge in my home. However, during winter months static is quite prevalent. When wearing this grounding strap, I haven't felt a static shock. I have fried several iPhone Lightning-style charging cords before getting this. To use this, there is a (conductive carbon?) cloth strip, not pictured in this image, that you tuck into the top of your sock so that it makes contact with your skin. One of the things that I was concerned about was the wear resistance of the rubber strap that you walk on. It seems quite tough, and is symmetrical, so either black rubber strap can be placed under the heel. Another concern was whether I would stumble or trip with this on my heel. Hasn't happened.
