Received this camera as a gift. It isn't so impressive to look at it, but the pictures are clear, with well-balanced color and brightness. The ease of download to computer with Kodak's "easy share" is perfect for anyone who might struggle with technical matters or computers. We have used this camera for everything from family vacations to taking pictures for selling on eBay and it does not disappoint. The 4.0 megapixels are plenty for any novice or amateur picture taker. The memory card can hold somewhere in the range of 150 pictures. Batteries seem to be eaten by this camera very quickly, but we have found that with rechargeable batteries, it is not a major concern. I don't particularly care for the Kodak picture editing software that came with the camera, but there are plenty of other photo editing products out there that can be used once the pictures have been downloaded to your computer. Overall, this is a great little camera that can take a beating (we have 2 little ones that have knocked it around a few times and it keeps working) and take great pictures that download easily to the computer. We will eventually replace the camera, but only because I want to get a higher resolution camera with a greater zoom. For anyone that is looking for a good quality camera that is not too expensive but that will provide quality pictures, this is a good, safe bet.Read full review
Simple operation, point and click. Low hassle menus. Multiple power options. You are not limited to using only expensive specialty batteries. You can use expensive standard specialty batteries, AA Lithiums, AA NiMh or normal AA batteries. The camera can additionally run of an external power source, such as a battery-pack or direct wired USB power. Super bright screen in daylight. Now for the bad... Battery cover is weak and uses a simple flimsy tab to hold the spring-tensioned heavy batteries in place. (This would not be a problem if the cover was not on the bottom corner. Expect that it will loose its ability to stay closed in the future, and will require an odd tape/velcro solution to retain functionality with an internal battery.) Video quality is nothing special and tends to have colors and brightness that run/wash vertically in the videos. The internal microphone hates being outside where any wind or high-pitch noises will amplify and overpower any sound you actually desire to record. But in all fairness, it is not a DVR or camcorder.Read full review
The original LiOn rechargeable batteries work best with this camera for battery hours of use (maybe about 4-8 hours). Lithium batteries second (maybe 2 hours) and regular batteries do not work very well for battery time (maybe 1 hour). My charger stand has died out but I think the LiOn batteries might be able to be recharged by linking the camera with the LiOn batteries in it directly to the computer ...and maybe download pics that way...with the right cord for camera to computer...haven't tried it yet. This model camera is getting older and as a used model probably cannot be made "as new" no matter how much repair work is done. After time, the zoom lens tends to want to "stick" and not go in/out as easy as when new and sometimes the flash brightness is not as much and the charger stand wants to stop working too..You get used to certain models and I did love this one for the many long uses. Add a 1gb SD memory card and have several extra if you are doing lots of photos. A 1 gb. card will hold about 500 pics..Too bad they don't make this model anymore..trying a Kodak FZ51 for replacement/backup camera..Read full review
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I decided to purchase this because I liked the fact that you could print photographs without a printer, which meant anyone could use it including my son. When I got it in, I took several photos and was suprised how clear they were EVEN on the camera screen. The only thing that I don't like is that the battery door doesn't remain closed. For how high the quality of the camera seems to be, it's a shame that they didn't put the same quality on the battery door. Definitely recommend this camera, just make sure you have plenty of tape or rubber bands handy.
Have had ours for about 2 yrs and love it!! This little workhorse has many strong points: Lots of auto settings, including macro for closeups and sports for blur-free action shots * Manual settings if you prefer that * High quality, rich color photos * Super Easy to use. The ONLY weak point we found is the battery compartment door - which broke within the first 3 months. We just tape it shut and keep going.
