Very easy to shoot good quality pics. The menu system is easy to navigate and a beginner can figure tham out with a bit of study. It has a fixed LCD or a the view finder which is ok as I can't find a live view mode. All in all a good camera for the beginner to andvanced mid level user.

I wish it would have come with a manual. The fact the digital cards are no longer made is tough. I hope to find a memory card that can retro fit. Needed to by a special flash shoe to use a larger flash.

The A100 is easy to operate, I don't care for how it uses the flash to aid in focus adjustment. The stock 18-70mm lens is ok, but I believe better glass would make a huge difference. Sony does not provide a downloadable version of the RAW photo viewer, enhancer and convertor. Battery life is not as long as I thought it would be, it could be I have a battery that is about to fail. Photo's are very clear, adjustments are easy to understand. Someone who wants to take time to understand or recall how film slr cameras were used can have a ball with this camera as it is very adjustable. I bought this for my wife, my camera is a Sigma D14, this Sony does not take as clear a photo...but I have better glass than the 18-70 mm lens. a neat thing is that it may be set up to focus as your eye nears the eye piece, not requiring you to push the shutter button half way down. Photo viewing on the screen is nice, but it is much better to review your shots on a home computer. The size is great, a lot smaller than my SigmaRead full review
If you are making the transition from a SLR to a DSLR, this is a good starter camera. There are too many features to list on this camera. I guess one of the best features is that you can look at the pictures you take right away. If you don't like it, erase it. Another good feature is the fact that you don't have to wait for your film to be developed. With the Sony Alpha series, you can still use the lenses from your Minolta SLR camera.
The only issues are that the camera makes a whining noise while in operation, but it doesn't affect the quality at all. I'm also concerned that the flash does not work properly. In low light conditions, it has only come on once. That may be operator error because I was working on auto and not aware of the Fstop or Shutter speed. Still a great deal. Glad I bought it.
