This is one of the most versatile point and shoot cameras of all time. Using the auto setting lets you simply point and shoot under a wide range of lighting and other conditions and get consistently decent results. If you're a perfectionist, you can manually select aperature, shutter speed, ISO and other focal options that give you the creative control to tailor the results to your liking. As with many other such cameras, you also have a number of scene settings to cover most lighting, orientation and distance conditions. The video produces sharp 720p high def clips. Other niceties include multiple battery options (including 2AA battery with fairly astonishing battery life). The onboard memory is sufficient to store a fair number of lower resolution images, but adding even a 4GB SD card will provide more than ample storage. Image transfer to PC is quick and easy. The optical zoom is adequate at 4x and adding the available digital zoom will increase zoom dramatically, but this is probably the weakest feature on this otherwise fabulous little jewel. Recommended for newbies as well as pro's who want good shots in situations where behemoth SLR's are impractical. Surprisingly easy to use, surprisingly high quality imagery.Read full review

the size was what I was looking for but I really wish I had a manual as it was alittle hard getting use to the working of it

I bought this camera hoping it would beat my old Samsung SL102 and was looking for something worth buying. The best low range camera I could find was this one, so I decided to buy it. All though I was disappointed comparing the picture quality with my Samsung on some indoor photos, it does take pretty impressive pics, and has much better auto features and manual settings (eg. ISO). I can't complain, I overall feel satisfied with the upgrade for the price, it is well worth the money for such an impressive low end camera, but if you're looking for an excellent boost from your old 10 megapixel cam, I suggest saving a bit more and buying a Lumix or Cybershot of 14 megapixel. But if all your looking for is a super compact, fashion friendly point and shoot camera, this Coolpix does the job done and impressively too.Read full review
Very good product for home users. I bought the red one last month. The design is slim , cool, very light and portable( it weighs only 116G!). The quality of pictures is very good, can be printed directly, you don't need to photoshop the photos at all. It saves me a lot of time on using the photoshop software( I am a business seller on ebay, therefore I need to handle a lot of product photos every day) The LCD dispaly is big and clear, can disply pictures very well for checking. Over 6 scene modes to be chosen, esay to use, I found the DC is good at shooting portrait(having the Face-priority AF) and scenery especially. It also has the winking & smile-face recognition function, will remind you if some one had been winked when shooting, very cute! Disadvantage: don't show the power level of battery on LCD display, you will not know how much power left until the last moment when encounting the tip"the battery power has been exhausted" suddenly. Overall, a very good product at a very reasonable price, I like it.Read full review
I bought the Nikon s3000 a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with everything the camera had to offer. The pictures are great, and there's so many features to choose from. Everything is simple to understand. Also it has a really long battery life. I use it pretty much a few times a day, I've only had to charge it once and its still going. If you're looking for a good everyday camera without having to spend lots of money, I would recommend this one. Its very stylish and easy to use.
The S3000 is a very tiny, slim camera that has a great deal of capability. I have had my camera for over a month and it is very easy to use without even reading the pamphlet. The photos are sharp and like most cameras there are plenty of specialized scene settings to choose from. There is also some in camera editing. This camera is smaller than an ipod touch in length and slim enough to carry it in my purse or pocket. I have been using this instead of my Panasonic FZ28 (Fixed lens DSLR type) which is a great camera but much larger. The quality of the Nikon photos are good. Sometimes the shutter speed seems to be a little delayed, but for an inexpensive quality compact point and shoot, it is a good choice!
Purchased this as a gift for my daughter and we are very pleased. Small enough to carry in a pocket or purse. Chose this one because it's easy to use, just point-and-shoot and so far the pictures have turned out great. The included case, mini-tripod, cleaning kit, and memory card made it an even better deal. Seems to need charging often but that hasn't been an issue. If you want high def pictures and all the "bells and whistles" then this probably isn't the camera for you. But for school/church activities, pics of friends & family, etc. it's great!
This is my very first digital camera. I've always had friends/family with digi cameras and didn't find it necessary for me to get one. However now that I'm moving away from my friends, I feel the need to get one so I can keep them posted on my new surroundings. I bought this camera with the help of my best friend who majored in photography and film and she told me this is a very good camera to start with. Since I trust her judgement 100%, I decided to go for it. Since this is my first camera ever, I can't compare it to other ones. The only thing I did with other cameras was hold it and take a picture. I can say though, that this camera is lighter and thinner than other cameras that I held. :) The manual is very easy to read. However, since English isn't my first language I'm having some troubles with some technical words but that's not the cameras fault. It's very easy to work with. The pictures come out clear and you get all the cables you need with it. A very good starter camera although I'd like it better if had a better zoom (I like zooming in, I found out).Read full review
I Like the camera. It was bought primarily to bring to hunting camp and look at pictures taken from my deer cam. However, the sd card from my deer camera will not work in this camera because the card has a different format than in the deer cam. My wife has a Nikon coolpix but a different model so I thought it would work because she can veiw the card in her cam. It is a nice cam to take pics and very clear just don't plan on trying to view another sd card from a different cam. You may be disappointed like I was. I will use it for other purposes though, I won't have to steal my wifes cam now when we go to the zoo or sightseeing and may get faster better shots instead of wasting time robbing her. ENJOY!!!
All features work well. Looks good, low profile and lightweight. The only minor negative is slight discoloration with low light, I think maybe because of the age of the camera. Easy to fix in editing.
