I know there are video geeks out there who might state there are better cameras out there - and there certianly are - if you want to pay a lot more. Overall, this camera is very hard to beat for it's versatility, size, and capability. I just finished a four camera shoot of a large conference using this camera. I had rock solid performance out of each camera and had no doubts the consistency of each camera was the same across the board. I've used this for short films, conferences, and quick day to day B roll. I do recommend you pick up a good quality shotgun microphone if you're going to do any mobile work, but what video camera does have a great microphone on it? Actually, the microphones on this camera (stereo) are just fine for average stuff, but if you need anything better - spend the bucks for better microphones. The P2 cards are pricey but the price on those has come down to within reason as of late. I'm using 64Gig cards because I do so much conference work - and with two of those in each camera, I don't have to worry about changing out a card for nearly two hours - giving me plenty of time to dump the video it created to a computer or external hard drive. If you need a camera that can be simple as well as flexible, this is your machine.Read full review
I got this camcorder because I'm in the need for a high end HD camera for some gigs.I'm really familiar with it because it was the one I use in college and it's easier for me to start working on some gigs with it, than get a new one that I don't know.In my opinion it's an amazing professional HD camcorder, easy to use and with the HD quality you an get in any other brand camcorder at a better price.
This is a great camera. Versatile for live shooting to studio settings. Only drawback is that it doesnt do as well under low light conditions. It has a varied amount of formats and the ability to record on P2 cards or tape. It is quite heavy to use as is and your wrists will get tired, so you definately will benefit form a shoulder mount/stabilizer or using it on a tripod.
GONNA MAKE SOME SWEET SKATE VIDZZ WITH THIS APPARATUS! FRIGGGGG YES!

This camera is a solid investment. With the purchase of the lens adapter and additional lenses this camera gives a high production value result. Currently this camera is used on television shows. Not just reality shows but in studio as well.

The Panasonic HVX-200 might be one of the indie filmmaker's best friends. Easy to use, expandable lens capabilities, great picture, flexible in variable lighting environments, and I could go on. I've shot two documentaries with this camera and have had great outcomes. Highly recommend as an affordable yet professional choice for indie and commercial shooters.
Great camera the sun 2.0 port is broken which was not advertised in the post. other then that fine.
