Got this press to build battery cables for a boat's multi-battery system. Did a great job. But just barely finished 20 pressings I needed to do. Toward the last pressing, I almost needed to add fluid as so much had leaked. This appears to be expected as they include instructions on how to refill it, but I would have thought it would have taken longer. That being said, for the price, I'm pleased. I won't be using it frequently, and refilling it is a small price to pay for the occasional use I have, and functionally, it is great. My only request for improvement would be to add a spring to the lever so it would re-open the handles without me pulling it out. That way, it could be easily be used one-handed.

In the description it said that it works on "Crimps AWG 12 to 2/0 size aluminum and copper wire" I needed to crimp #4 which is in between those two sizes. The dies were either too big or too small nothing was suitable to do the job properly. These are metric crimpers. Not suitable for american sizes. I did watch you tube and there were a couple that did a nice job crimping other sizes. I got 3 #50 dies and one #35 which one of the guys on you tube had happen to them also. I had to drill one of the smaller dies to the size I needed,I wound up with a round crimp instead of a hex one and it worked quite well.it would also be easy enough to make your own. You'll be crimping copper or aluminum wire so hard dies aren't really needed. These are from china and not the best quality, you get what you pay for. If your not doing this professionally these work well enough.Read full review

The crimper worked just as I expected. The only thing is that there are dies that I will never use. They are just too large for my purpose. One other thing to consider, the dies should be marked for US wire gage electrical sizes and not just metric sizes. I had to use the trial and error method to get the correct size dies for the US wire lugs and Us wire gages I was crimping.

The crimper is easy to use , light weight, makes excelant crimps, has the dies that were well suited to my job, and with all that it's more than reasonably priced.

Hydraulics was very slow, even at a rapid pump pace at first. Kept working it and it ironed itself out and works perfectly. Not sure of what it was but no problem now. Maybe some fluid had a problem in its location at first. It moves with the slowest of pump action now. Just the way i like it.
