The ONE Motorcycle Show - opens in new window or tab. bills itself as the world’s biggest, funkiest annual gathering of custom motorcycles and culture. Last weekend, we hung out at ONE Moto ’22, which took place at the Zidell Barge Building in Portland, Ore.
The experience did not disappoint. Check out our favorite wild bikes from the show.
Air-Powered Motorcycle

Cory Little
Inventor Cory Little wowed the crowd with his compressed air-powered motorcycle, shown at the top of this page.
What started as a 1981 Honda CM200T Twinstar with a conventional internal combustion engine now runs on air.
Little said:
The tanks hold 4,500 psi is regulated down to a usable pressure. It then goes through a rotary sequence valve and a heat exchanger. The motor, which only has five moving parts, runs on compressed air as the rotary valve turns two double-acting pistons.
Little has been researching compressed air power since 2013. He said the motorcycle is designed to be ridden, not as an art project. The benefits are myriad—zero emissions, no batteries to charge, and low cost (using an old Honda). Little said he bought many of the parts on eBay.
Single-Cylinder Road Racer

New Jersey’s Cosentino Engineering used 30 years of manufacturing and engineering experience to build the Cosentino Hypermono. It’s a radical single-cylinder road racing motorcycle. The 600cc race Single features heads and pistons from a Ducati Panigale 1199 and an original counter-rotating crankshaft and cases.
The Hypermono utilizes a linkage front suspension and one-piece sand-cast swingarm created using 3D- printed sand molds. Chris Cosentino worked with Nick Graveley, a clay modeler, to design the bodywork. The team finalized the design using virtual reality.
Slick Cycle Trike

Slick Cycle Works busted out this hip 1975 Honda CB750 Trike at the 2022 ONE Moto Show. It’s a wild blend of a big inline-four engine with a skyscraping king and queen saddle and groovy upswept, coiled exhaust pipes. With a tall knobby up front and street tires in the back, Slick Cycle’s trike looks ready for whatever the road throws at it.
Restored Barn-Find Chopper

How cool would it have been to discover this 1974 Honda SL350 Chopper in an old barn? Paul Fournier is the lucky dog who chanced upon this bike and brought it back to life. Now it’s evolved into a dirt track racing scrambler/chopper hybrid that thumbs its nose at categorization.
Get Along, Little Doggy

We’ve all heard motorcycle seats referred to as saddles. But this little wrangler at the Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys booth took the saying literally.
The Anti-Chopper

You don’t see hardtail Honda choppers every day, especially as rad as this 1973 Honda CB750 ChopRR. Builder JP Managa wanted to build a chopper that defied the norms. He said:
This was my biggest project to date. I pushed every single detail that I could while still making it work with the original intent and vision. This is my anti-chopper performance chopper build.
The “Perpetual Sorrow” Bike

Icon Motorsport’s isn’t your typical motorcycle apparel and gear company. Instead, the Icon crew takes pride in building outrageous custom motorcycles to support its marketing campaigns. “Perpetual Sorrow” started as a 1974 Yamaha XS650 before Kurt Walter and the Icon team stripped it down, wrapped it in a bunch of hand-formed aluminum bodywork, added a Hayabusa front end, and beefed up the engine.
Vodka-Powered Salt Flat Racing Motorcycle

Based in Missoula, MT, Montgomery Distillery found this 1980 Yamaha XS650 in a field and decided to “make it run on heads.” That’s the term used to describe the first cut of alcohol from a vodka-producing still. The crew took the revamped XS650 to the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2018, where they set a land speed record of 113 mph on the first try.
Extreme Scooter

Don Neely is the madman behind this supercharged “Ducati Monster” 1969 Bonanza scooter. But, at least Neely had the good sense to boost its back brakes with a new disc and caliper. If the 2022 ONE Moto Show is any indicator, extreme scooters are on the rise.
Chopstick Motorcycle Art

Makoto Endo is a talented artist who travels to motorcycle shows like The ONE, where he puts on live solo painting performances. It’s incredible to watch a blank canvas transform into a captivating painting of a motorcycle in a couple of days. The fact Endo makes his art with Indian ink and chopsticks is even more incredible.
