How rare is an original white Ferrari Testarossa? Very. There are overwhelming numbers of red examples—but other colors are difficult to obtain. What about a white Testarossa that shared screen time with rap crew NWA in the biopic Straight Outta Compton? Well, that's one of one—and it's for sale on eBay Motors - opens in new window or tab..
The car in the movie isn't the same one owned by Dr. Dre back in the day, but it's still an interesting—and hard-to-find—piece of automotive cinematic history. The vehicle was leased by the producers of Straight Outta Compton from Blackhorse Motor Sports, run by Carl Steuer. He made a name for himself in the world of Ferrari restorations, setting record prices for cars like the Ferrari 365 2+2. (Carl’s other association with movie cars was the purchase of 1967 Volkswagen bug used in Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke.)

The Testarossa from the film was given a complete cosmetic restoration, with reupholstered dashboard and seats—and the sticky plastics that plague most 1980s-era Ferraris returned to like-new condition. Mechanically, the car is completely stock, which means the car comes with a 4.9-liter 12-cylinder engine pushing out 390 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque, accessible via the car's gated five-speed manual shifter.

It’s no surprise that there's a link between the Miami Vice television series and the car that rapper/producer/impresario Dr. Dre purchased as soon as he hit the big time in the early 1990s. Drawn to the flash of the white Testarossa on the show, Dre sought out one of his own—a 1987 model. The car for sale on eBay was used to faithfully depict Dr. Dre’s life in the movie, including a notorious police chase involving the rapper seemingly pulled from an episode of Michael Mann's groundbreaking series.

Although Dr. Dre didn't drive this particular car—that honor went to Corey Hawkins, the actor who portrayed Dre—its use in the movie has brought attention from hip hop heads and automotive fans alike. The Testarossa is an intriguing addition to rap music's constantly rotating cast of automobiles: during the era that Dre drove the Ferrari, the West Coast scene was known more for lowriders, mid-60s Impalas, and gold-grilled Cadillacs than it was imported Italian exotics.
