How do you transform a Daewoo Matiz—one of the most boring hatchbacks ever built—into one of the most interesting cars in the world? Yes, that's right: the little plastic car you see typically being piloted by kids five and under was produced at a scale that is comfortable on modern roads.
Well, it depends on how you define “comfortable.” You'd actually have to be rather brave to set out behind the wheel of a car the size of a golf cart with no windshield and no side glass, but since the spectacle itself would be stopping traffic left, right, and center, you're probably safer than you'd think.
The Daewoo that gave its life for the creation of this incredible rolling art project had its roof hacked off and a section of its frame removed to shorten the wheelbase and get the proportions right for the Crazy Coupe. Once welded back together, a polystyrene mold was fitted to the interior, so that fiberglass seats and cabin panels could be fabricated. In fact, most of the car's appearance was completely custom-formed from a variety of different materials to ensure that it didn't resemble a production vehicle in the slightest.
The fabrication process for the Cozy Coupe was intensive, especially when it came to the plastic-look interior panels.
The Little Tikes Crazy Coupe might be whimsical, but the quality is first-rate. The Cozy Coupe's panel gaps look professional enough to have come off of an assembly line. The car’s mirrors, while maybe not entirely useful, are attached to perfectly match the lines of the toy. And the painted interior not only matches the outside color, but uses a finish that gives the appearance that the entire vehicle was been cast from a plastic mold.
The end result speaks for itself. The Little Tikes runabout is one of the most unique projects to emerge from Attitude Autos, which has developed a reputation for tackling weird and wacky builds.
