The low-mileage 1995 Mitsubishi RVR Super Sports Gear wagon recently listed on eBay was recently imported from Japan. The RVR stands for “Recreational Vehicle Runner.” It’s a fast and fun, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive, manual wagon.
The rare adventure wagon is now ready for its first stateside owner.

The RVR is based on the Mitsubishi Evo 1 platform. As a result, the right-hand-drive, manual 5-speed RVR Super Sports Gear wagon offers a unique set of amenities. The list includes a turbocharged engine, “Dynamic Four” AWD system, an Evo-based center differential, and four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS).

A Dynamic Mitsubishi Wagon
The Mitsubishi AWD adventure machine is a sleeper. From the outside, you’ll notice the three-door wagon’s passenger sliding door on the left side and its swing-away tire carrier in the back.

However, there's also power lurking under the hood. The RVR is packing 230 horsepower and 215 pound-feet torque—courtesy of Mitsubishi’s legendary 4G63T 2-liter turbocharged, intercooled engine. That's the same mill found in the turbo Mitsubishi Eclipse and Lancer Evo - opens in new window or tab..
This 1995 Mitsubishi RVR Super Sports Gear Turbo AWD wagon has adequate ground clearance of 210 millimeters or approximately 8.25 inches. This allows substantial adventuring opportunities on dirt and snowy roads. The vehicle shows only 26,800 miles on the odometer.
Extra Niceties for Adventure Travel
The Mitsu RVR Super Sports Gear trim level includes goodies:
- Power folding mirrors
- A full-size rear-mounted spare tire behind its liftgate

Do we spy an OE underbody front skid plate as well?
The RVR was sold in the US in the 1990s as the Mitsubishi Expo LRV, Eagle Summit Wagon, and Plymouth Colt vista. And while those versions provided AWD, they did not offer the same robust powertrain.
Other sporty features include:
- Roof rails ready to accept an aftermarket roof rack system - opens in new window or tab.
- Attractive 15-inch alloy wheels (including the spare)
The Mitsubishi RVR Is Just as Sweet on the Inside
The RVR’s sporty feel extends to the interior. It has a white-accented dash display, sport bucket seats with beefy bolsters, eye-catching graphic upholstery, and a Nardi steering wheel - opens in new window or tab.. Various hidden cubbies for storage are also strewn about the interior cabin.

At the same time, there are modern electronic features. For example, the interior of this Mitsubishi RVR Super Sports Gear AWD wagon boasts the following:
- Power windows
- Central door locking system
- Door remote controls
- Automatic heater and AC climate control system
- Digital outside temperature gauge (in Celsius), compass, and clock
Mitsubishi RVR's Rare JDM Features
Because the RVR is a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicle, its speedometer and odometer are only in kilometers. It doesn’t have a 17-digit VIN. Therefore, make sure to check for insurance coverage and your state’s requirements for import paperwork to register and title imported vehicles before purchase.
The seller, JDM Car & Motorcycle LLC - opens in new window or tab., in Seattle, says this rare RVR is in amazing condition. It is a well-preserved one owner car. The wagon is rust-free and runs great. That makes this quirky and rare AWD adventure-mobile a complete package.
