Looking for something different in a collectible vintage truck? The lovingly restored and upgraded 1954 Chevrolet 3600 armored truck sold on eBay in Lubbock, Texas, is fortified to resist bank heists.

Rare Survivor

The seller says this truck was originally used in Maine during the 1950s. When decommissioned, other armored trucks in its fleet were destroyed. No Ordinary Work Truck

From the cowl forward, this armored Chevy presents like a stock truck. The hood, fenders, and chrome grille are identical to those of a conventional heavy-duty pickup - opens in new window or tab. of the era.
Yet this is no ordinary work truck - opens in new window or tab.. Its 3/4-ton frame supports a custom armored compartment complete with firing ports - opens in new window or tab.. Inside are museum-display money bags and a mannequin dressed as a guard.
The driver’s compartment is separated from the cargo area by a thick steel wall and wire mesh. Access is possible solely through a single passenger-side door operated from the driver’s seat. Diamond-plate steel - opens in new window or tab. on the armored truck's floor adds security. A large, round speedometer faces the single seat. Aftermarket gauges - opens in new window or tab. under the dash monitor oil pressure, volts, and coolant temperature.

Dramatically Different

The truck’s exterior remains true to its 1950s roots, but things are dramatically different under the hood. The original inline six-cylinder engine was replaced by a GM 350-cubic-inch V-8 - opens in new window or tab. engine. It’s dressed up with a chrome air cleaner, valve covers, and oil filler cap. The shift lever in the cab links to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission.
